Maryam Rajavi: Increasing the price of gasoline and bread for the poor during the Coronavirus crisis is the flipside of the $30 billion the ruling theocracy has spent from the Iranian people’s pockets in Syria to keep the criminal dictator in power.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran<\/a> (PMOI \/ MEK) announced on Friday, May 22, 2020, that the Coronavirus death toll in 319 cities across Iran has risen to more than 43,600. The number of victims in Tehran has exceeded 7,090, Khuzestan 3,195, East Azerbaijan 1,545, Lorestan 1,290, Central 606, Kerman 525, and Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad 287. According to doctors’ reports, only in Labafinejad Hospital in Tehran, more than 220 people have died of Coronavirus.<\/p>\n

Today, on his daily interview with the official news agency, IRNA, the spokesperson for the Health Ministry said, “The situation in Khuzestan Province is still red.”<\/p>\n

Speaking to the IRGC affiliated news agency, Fars, today, Ali Ehsanpour, the spokesman for Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences urged people not to leave their homes unless necessary and to refrain from holding Eid al-Fitr rituals and visits.<\/p>\n

In Tehran, the head of the National Coronavirus Combat Taskforce (NCCT) told the state-run daily, Asr-e Iran, “There is still no evidence that the virus has been weakened and it can still endanger people and threaten their health and lives. Although we see a decline in mortality, the situation remains fragile.” He added: “The pandemic’s social, cultural and economic impacts far outweigh its biological impact, and its universality makes it more difficult to deal with.”<\/p>\n

In Bushehr, the head of the Province’s University of Medical Sciences, today told Fars, “To prevent the spread of the disease we urge bazaars and guilds to close their shops from Friday, May 22, to the end of the Eid al-Fitr holiday.”<\/p>\n

The situation in Sistan and Baluchestan remains critical. Today, the president of Iranshahr University of Medical Sciences told the Tasnim news agency, “Following the increase in the number of people infected with Coronavirus in Iranshahr and Chabahar, these cities were classified as red. Commercial and service centers in Chabahar Free Zone will be closed from May 22 until further notice.”<\/p>\n

Mohammad-Akbar Chakerzehi, the governor of Khash, told Fars yesterday, “The situation in the city is not normal. Due to the significant increase in the number of people infected with Coronavirus, the Khash market will be closed for one week beginning Friday, May 22, 2020, except for the essential businesses that provide food.”<\/p>\n

In Ilam, the head of the health network of Halilan city told the Javan website today, “Coronavirus spread in this city is increasing, and we must stop the cycle of virus transmission in the environment and among the public.”<\/p>\n

In Yazd province, the head of Imam Jafar Sadeq Hospital of Meybod told the state TV yesterday, “Due to disregard for social distancing, the number of patients has increased.”<\/p>\n

In East Azerbaijan Province, the head of the Coronavirus Combat Taskforce in Bonab told Fars news yesterday, “The prevalence of the virus infection has increased. If we do not comply, we will see the spread of the Coronavirus in the coming days.”<\/p>\n

In Khorasan Razavi, the information officer of Mashhad University for Medical Sciences was quoted by Mehr news agency as saying yesterday, “Due to the red situation in Mashhad, we recommend that people do not travel to Mashhad on Eid al-Fitr.”<\/p>\n

According to the Parliament’s official website yesterday, a deputy from Bandar Abbas complained about the “per capita shortage of hospital beds in Hormozgan” and noted, “people in these two cities are still waiting for the establishment of these clinics.”<\/p>\n

In a situation where people all over the country are struggling with the Coronavirus crisis, the head of Mazandaran Province’s Trade, Industry and Mining announced yesterday, “According to a recent decree of Mazandaran’s Market Price Headquarters, the price of different types of bread were raised 25% to 30% beginning May 21, 2020.”<\/p>\n
