The rising<\/a><\/span>\u00a0COVID-19 death toll\u00a0<\/span>in Iran and the restive Iranian society\u00a0<\/span>has force<\/span>d<\/span>\u00a0state-run media and officials to admit that both\u00a0<\/span>the coronavirus crisis and the society are out of the regime\u2019s control.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI, Mujahedin-e Khalq or MEK)<\/a> announced that as of Tuesday, the COVID-19 virus has taken\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>lives of over 44,500 people<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>across Iran. Despite the ridiculous and bogus claims of the regime\u2019s president Hassan Rouhani<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>that over \u201cover 20 percent of hospital beds are empty\u201d and\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>regime\u2019s criminal decision to force people back to work amid the coronavirus outbreak<\/span>, information from Iran<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0even those published by the state-run news agencies<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0show th<\/span>e regime has no control over this crisis and is not willing to handle it.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Mohammad\u00a0<\/span>Shanbodi<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>the<\/span>\u00a0health director of\u00a0<\/span>Mahshahr<\/span>\u00a0port<\/span>\u00a0in Khuzestan province<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>on Tuesday, <\/span>told\u00a0<\/span>the state-run\u00a0<\/span>ILNA news agency<\/span>:<\/span>\u00a0\u201cThe Coronavirus outbreak in Khuzestan has taken an upward trend \u2026 In the last few days,\u00a0<\/span>Mahshahr<\/span>\u00a0hospitals have been overwhelmed with patients. Again,\u00a0<\/span>Naft<\/span>\u00a0Hospital allocated another ward to Coronavirus patients. Hospital beds are not enough, and there is no room for more patients. Unfortunately, many of the medical staff have contracted the virus, which forced them to<\/span>\u00a0enter<\/span>\u00a0quarantine. I emphasize that we have no substitute for them.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The state-run\u00a0<\/span>Mehr<\/span>\u00a0news agency\u00a0<\/span>quoted\u00a0<\/span>Javad<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Aghazade<\/span>, head of the\u00a0<\/span>West Azerbaijan University of Medical Sciences<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0as saying:\u00a0<\/span>\u201cWe<\/span>\u00a0have witnessed a rising number of infections and people being hospitalized<\/span>\u00a0within the last five day. In the city of\u00a0<\/span>Mahabad<\/span>, we have had\u00a0<\/span>six<\/span> deaths. Currently,\u00a0<\/span>Mahabad<\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>nine<\/span> other cities in Western Azerbaijan are in a red situation.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Iranian society has been grappling with poverty<\/span>. It\u00a0<\/span>is under tremendous economic pressure due<\/span>\u00a0to<\/span>\u00a0the regime\u2019s institutionalized corruption and wrong economic and political decisions<\/span>. Now the coronavirus outbreak and\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>regime\u2019s mismanagement have added to the people\u2019s misery and of course, have increased their anger toward the regime. The <\/span>mullahs\u2019 regime considers\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>COVID-19 crisis, like other cris<\/span>e<\/span>s,\u00a0<\/span>to<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>be\u00a0<\/span>a security threat and prio<\/span>ritize<\/span>s<\/span>\u00a0its own rule over people\u2019s lives. The decision to send people back to work confirms this. The regime refused, unlike other countries, to financially support people during the quarantining period,\u00a0<\/span>and this resulted in more people joining the army of starving people. Fearing a nationwide protest such as the\u00a0<\/span>Iran protests in November, which sho<\/span>o<\/span>k the regime\u2019s foundation, the regime forced people back to work. Yet,<\/span>\u00a0since they are in a deadlock,\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>mullahs<\/span>\u00a0chose this path to prolong their rule even for days<\/span>, despite knowing that this w<\/span>ould\u00a0<\/span>increase social hatred toward the regime\u00a0<\/span>with more people dying due to the coronavirus<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In this regard, the state-run\u00a0<\/span>Mostaghel<\/span>\u00a0daily wrote on Tuesday:\u00a0<\/span>\u201cThe bloody November of 2019\u2026 caused a huge part of the society to refrain from voting in the [parliamentary] elections\u2026 The 60 percent of the population who did not vote have no interest in the upcoming [presidential] elections and are unsatisfied about the status quo. The greatest and most real opponents are the poor and the unemployed.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ahmad\u00a0<\/span>Naderi<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>a<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>regim<\/span>e<\/span>\u00a0official<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0told the state-run\u00a0<\/span>Resalat<\/span>\u00a0daily on March 7: \u201cI am worried about the social and security outcome of this crisis. Soon, rebellions, much larger than the ones in 2018 and 2019 and certainly much larger than the ones in the 1990s, will happen.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On\u00a0<\/span>April\u00a0<\/span>7<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0Iran-<\/span>Emrouz<\/span>\u00a0state-run daily wrote: \u201cWe are going to have a major social upheaval after<\/span>\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0Coronavirus is over. The situation is not going to be calm. It is going to be exactly like the period after the 2017 elections (uprisings), and we are going to see repeated and powerful incidents.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As the\u00a0<\/span>Resalat<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>d<\/span>aily wrote on Tuesday, May 26<\/span>:<\/span>\u00a0\u201c<\/span>Only one excuse is needed, then like a match flame that falls into<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>a haystack<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0everything<\/span>\u00a0[of the regime]<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>will be\u00a0<\/span>burn<\/span>t<\/span>.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
