\"Romanian-Parliamentarian-Committee-for-Free-Iran\"The\u00a0<\/span>Romanian Parliamentarian Committee for\u00a0<\/span>a\u00a0<\/span>Free Iran<\/span> in a <\/span>letter<\/span>, condemned the Iranian regime\u2019s arrest<\/span>\u00a0and<\/span>\u00a0torture\u00a0<\/span>of two Iranian elite students, Amir Hossain Moradi and Ali\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Younesi<\/span>, along with 18 other individuals, arrested for having an alleged connection <\/span>with the People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization o<\/a><\/span>f<\/span> Iran (PMOI, Mujahedin-e Khalq or MEK). This organization<\/span>\u00a0also urged the<\/span>\u00a0United Nations and its related organizations<\/span>, particularly the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Ms. Michele Bachelet,<\/span>\u00a0to intervene\u00a0<\/span>and<\/span>\u00a0halt\u00a0<\/span>the<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>torture and possible execution<\/span>\u00a0of the\u00a0<\/span>detainees and<\/span>\u00a0secure the<\/span>ir<\/span> release. The <\/span>letter<\/span> is as follow<\/span>s:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

13<\/span>th<\/span>\u00a0May 2020<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The persecution, arbitrary arrests, torture, and executions in Iran have a long history over the past four decades. Many detainees have been tortured to death during interrogation, and the mullahs’ regime has been repeatedly\u00a0<\/span>condemned by international organizations, the Human Rights Council, and other relevant bodies for its ongoing human rights abuses.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On April 13 this year, two students\u00a0of\u00a0Sharif University of Technology, Ali\u00a0<\/span>Younesi<\/span>\u00a0and Amir Hossein Moradi, were arrested by<\/span>\u00a0security forces without a prosecutor’s order. Not only was the family of the detainees not informed of the reason and place of their detention and their health, but they were threatened with arrest, murder and rape by security forces. Up until the last we<\/span>ek when a spokesman for the judiciary,\u00a0<\/span>Gholam<\/span>-Hossein\u00a0<\/span>Esmaili<\/span>, officially announced their arrest last week, accusing them of links to the People’s Mojahedin of Iran (PMOI).<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ali\u00a0<\/span>Younesi<\/span>, the Iranian elite, won the gold medal in astronomy at the Chinese Olym<\/span>pics in 2018.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Subsequently, the PMOI announced the names of the two students and 18 others who had recently been detained by security forces. The abduction of these people without a court order is followed by the threat of torture and execution for them.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

E<\/span>xperience has shown that detainees are subjected to the most severe tortures, especially when arrested on charges of being affiliated with the PMOI.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Therefore, this committee expresses its concern about the situation of these detainees and calls for their<\/span>\u00a0immediate release and demands these actions to be condemned.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The committee calls on the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to urge the Iranian government to release detainees immediately and to respect the rights of the Iranian citizens.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

These arbitra<\/span>ry detentions and acts of violence against detainees are a clear violation of all international human rights conventions and laws. The international community is against this regime.<\/span><\/p>\n

The committee also calls on the UN and other human rights bodies to take\u00a0<\/span>immediate action to form a committee to investigate the situation of the detainees and the release of political prisoners.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
