Reports and footages from Iran indicate that hundreds of acres of forests<\/span>\u00a0in several Iranian provinces\u00a0<\/span>have been\u00a0<\/span>burning in fire<\/span>\u00a0for nearly two\u00a0<\/span>we<\/span>e<\/span>ks<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Yet,<\/span>\u00a0the regime has not taken any action to<\/span>\u00a0control it.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>A<\/span>s World Environment Day<\/span>\u00a0comes and goes<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>the mullahs\u2019 regime has not taken any serious action addressing this crisis.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The fire\u00a0<\/span>started on\u00a0<\/span>May 28 in the <\/span>Khaeiz<\/span>\u00a0area located in Iran\u2019s<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Kohgiluyeh<\/span>\u00a0& Boyer Ahmed province<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>Reports and footages indicate a large fire is raging<\/span>\u00a0in\u00a0<\/span>Chitgar<\/span>\u00a0forest, near Tehran.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The\u00a0<\/span>Khaeiz<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>protected area<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>is a mountainous region with different plant and animal species, which is located between\u00a0<\/span>Behbahan<\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>Dehdasht<\/span>, and the spread of fire can cause irreparable damage to various plant and animal species in this region.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>On Sunday, smoke from the fires covered areas of the Ahvaz-Shush road in southwest Iran<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As the fire continues to rage, the local authorities speak of\u00a0<\/span>a\u00a0<\/span>lack of\u00a0<\/span>firefighting equipment. The regime<\/span>\u00a0has neglected financing and investing\u00a0<\/span>to prevent\u00a0<\/span>and control natural disasters. Instead, the mullahs\u2019 regime has been plundering\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>national wealth<\/span>\u00a0to fund domestic oppression and global export of terrorism.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Mohammad\u00a0<\/span>Movahedi<\/span>, a member of the Iranian regime\u2019s parliament<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0acknowledged on Sunda<\/span>y:<\/span>\u00a0\u201cOnce again, as seen in the past several years, we are witnessing how forests and natural resources in\u00a0<\/span>Kohgiluyeh<\/span>\u00a0& Boyer Ahmed province (southwest Iran) ha<\/span>ve<\/span>\u00a0been targeted by fires and irrecoverable damages have been inflicted to our national treasures. Locals with their bare hands are braving all odds to confront the fires that are destroying trees and wildlife, killing innocent animals in the\u00a0<\/span>Khaeiz<\/span>\u00a0mountains. It is necessary for certain [officials] to wake up and take some action<\/span>.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Mrs. Maryam\u00a0<\/span>Rajavi<\/span><\/a>, the president-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI)<\/a><\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0in this regard said:\u00a0<\/span>\u201c<\/span>Fire has been burning for\u00a0<\/span>two\u00a0<\/span>weeks turning\u00a0<\/span>hundreds\u00a0<\/span>of acres of forests in\u00a0<\/span>Behbahan<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>and\u00a0<\/span>Khuzestan into ashes, threatening human lives<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0wildlife, damaging historic landmarks such as\u00a0<\/span>Baghmisheh<\/span>\u00a0in Tabriz.<\/span>\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

F<\/span>or over 40 years, the mullahs\u2019 regime has been neglecting Iran<\/span>\u2019s<\/span>\u00a0rich\u00a0<\/span>e<\/span>nvironment and wildlife<\/span>\u00a0and has even arrested and imprisoned environmentalists. One of the regime\u2019s crimes\u00a0<\/span>was the destruction of a large part of the Iranian forests<\/span>. This criminal action has resulted in disasters such as\u00a0<\/span>f<\/span>loods<\/span>, water shortage, soil erosion, dust, and desertification, which are getting increasingly catastrophic every day<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>S<\/span>tate-run media<\/span>\u00a0and regime insiders<\/span>\u00a0have acknowledged that over<\/span> 45,000 acres of forests have been destroyed in the last 40 years.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>The regime\u2019s affiliated mafia<\/span>\u00a0use the\u00a0<\/span>high<\/span>–<\/span>quality<\/span>\u00a0woods and sell them for personal profit or financing\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>regime\u2019s illicit activities.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Forests<\/a> in\u00a0<\/span>the m<\/span>ountains of Zagros, across where\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>fire is\u00a0<\/span>spreading, have been largely harvested<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On March 3, 2019,\u00a0<\/span>the state-run\u00a0<\/span>ISNA news agency quoted Shirzad Najafi, Director General of Natural Resources of Lorestan Province in the west of the country,\u00a0<\/span>as\u00a0<\/span>saying that the forests of Zagros were not a\u00a0<\/span>subject of prohibition of harvesting\u00a0<\/span>of\u00a0<\/span>woods.\u00a0<\/span>He said: \u201c<\/span>Unfortunately, much of the forests of Zagros have been destroyed during the prohibition of harvesting the forests of the\u00a0<\/span>n<\/span>orth, and one day this will become critical in the country.\u201d He also reminded: \u201cEvery day, 2,000 lumber trucks are shipped to the north of the country by any means.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The destruction of forests is not limited to Zagros<\/span>. The<\/span>\u00a0northern part<\/span>s<\/span>\u00a0of Iran<\/span>\u00a0with\u00a0<\/span>their\u00a0<\/span>old forests\u00a0<\/span>ha<\/span>ve<\/span>\u00a0been widely affected by the regime\u2019s wrong policies.\u00a0<\/span>Masoud\u00a0<\/span>Molana<\/span>, a member of<\/span>\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0National Environmental Coordination Council,\u00a0<\/span>in an interview with the state-run<\/span>\u00a0ISNA news agency on October 24, 2018,\u00a0<\/span>said:<\/span>\u00a0\u201cAccording to the statistics of natural resources and forestry, the forests of\u00a0<\/span>the n<\/span>orth have<\/span>\u00a0been<\/span> reduced from 3,600,000 to 1,800,000 acres over the past 40 years. Once we have destroyed half of the forests, the rain will no longer be<\/span>\u00a0a<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>blessing<\/span>\u00a0and every precipitation\u00a0<\/span>would\u00a0<\/span>turn into a flood.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Iranian regime, due to its institutionalized corruption<\/span>\u00a0and prioritizing domestic oppression and export of terrorism abroad, has been plundering Iran\u2019s national wealth\u00a0<\/span>to fund its illicit activities, and neglected helping people in\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>face of natural disasters. This approach, which is in line with\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>mullahs\u2019 handling of<\/span>\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0coronavirus outbreak,\u00a0<\/span>which due to their cover-up and deception\u00a0<\/span>has so far\u00a0<\/span>resulted in nearly 50,000 death<\/span>s<\/span>, once again confirm<\/span>s<\/span>\u00a0that this regime does not care about Iran and the Iranian people and the only way to\u00a0<\/span>manage natural cris<\/span>e<\/span>s and rebuild Iran using its own national wealth is overthrowing the regime.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
