Iran: coronavirus outbreak<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

According to the Iranian regime, <\/span>Iranian society <\/span>is <\/span>now experienc<\/span>ing<\/span> a <\/span>second and <\/span>deadlier<\/span> wave of the COVID-19 outbreak<\/a><\/span>. <\/span>Iran is reaching its second peak of this virus, with <\/span>thousands<\/span> of daily <\/span>infections and an increasing death toll.<\/span><\/p>\n

This trend<\/span>, which due to the regime\u2019s cover-up and <\/span>premature ending of the national quarantine, confirms that <\/span>this humanitarian catastrophe is much <\/span>more <\/span>horrible than it <\/span>looks,<\/span> and the regime\u2019s officials are admitting to this fact. <\/span>Yet, instead of taking further action, the regime\u2019s officials are pursuing the herd immunity policy <\/span>and meanwhile blatantly blame people for their \u201clack of cooperation,\u201d in terms of social distancing standards.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Mohammad Reza Shams <\/span>Ardakani<\/span>, an advisor <\/span>to <\/span>the regime\u2019s Health Minister<\/span>,<\/span> told the official IRNA news agency on Tuesday: \u201cThe number of registered coronavirus cases is rising. The people should know that we will be living with the coronavirus epidemic for the next one or two years. We in Iran acted more quickly than Europe in reopening our systems. We believed the situation was normalizing while it was not\u2026 Each coronavirus test costs the government around 4 million rials (equal to about $22.40)<\/span>.<\/span> I am certain that if the situation gets worse the quarantine restrictions will most certainly be reimplemented and this indeed should take place<\/span>.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Alireza <\/span>Zali<\/span>, head of Tehran\u2019s coronavirus Task Force<\/span>,<\/span> told state<\/span> television<\/span> on Tuesday: <\/span>The number of people seeking medical care in health centers and hospitals <\/span>has shown <\/span>a 3.5 percent increase in the past 24 hours.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Ehsan <\/span>Mostafavai<\/span>, <\/span>head of the Research Center for New and Emerging Diseases of the Pasteur Institute of Iran<\/span>, in a video conference with the <\/span>state-run news agencies<\/span>,<\/span> said: <\/span>\u201cAccording to our data and findings, about 15 million people in the country have been infected with the virus since the beginning of the epidemic.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI, Mujahedin-e Khalq or MEK)<\/a>, which has been closely tracking the number of t<\/span>he COVID-19 deaths<\/span> since its outbreak, announced on Tuesday that over 50,500 people have already lost their lives to this virus.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition, while <\/span>the <\/span>rising coronavirus death toll forces the regime to acknowledge some parts of the crisis, the regime\u2019s infighting has increased. <\/span>Said <\/span>Namaki<\/span>, the regime\u2019s Health Minister, <\/span>fired <\/span>Kianoosh<\/span> Jahanpour<\/span>, the spokesman for the Ministry of Health, who was the main and the well-known spokesman for the regime in announcing government statistics.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

While the virus continues to spread across Iran, claiming more lives, the regime\u2019s officials, particularly its president Hassan Rouhani, blame <\/span>the <\/span>people.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

During <\/span>a meeting of the National Coronavirus Task Force, Rouhani said: <\/span>\u201c<\/span>Unfortunately, <\/span>some people think this virus is an issue that if we all unite<\/span> we could defeat it in couple of months<\/span>,<\/span> or by sta<\/span>y<\/span>ing at home for 10 or 20 days<\/span>,<\/span> the <\/span>dangerous period <\/span>would <\/span>end. This isn\u2019t the case.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Rouhani made these remarks, while<\/span> unlike other countries, the regime <\/span>deliberately dragged its feet to confirm <\/span>COVID-19 existence; then resorted to <\/span>a <\/span>cover<\/span>–<\/span>up and refused to issue a national quarantine, and when it did, it was not accompanied by governmental help which led more people to join the <\/span>army of starving people and <\/span>could have resulted in a nationwide<\/span> uprising<\/span>, so <\/span>the <\/span>mullahs immediately forced people back to work.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Despite the growing number of infections and death<\/span>s,<\/span> Rouhani insisted on resuming economic activities<\/span>, keeping prisoners amid COVID-19<\/span>‘s<\/span> rapid spread in prisons <\/span>and s<\/span>aid the regime does not have \u201ca second option.\u201d This means that <\/span>the <\/span>mullahs will continue sending people to the coronavirus killing field.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Blaming people simultaneous with forcing them back to work, <\/span>in addition to <\/span>Jahanpour\u2019s<\/span> dismissal<\/span>,<\/span> are<\/span> signs<\/span> of the <\/span>regime\u2019s utter<\/span> fear of <\/span>the consequences of its criminal policies<\/span>, lack of transparency<\/span>,<\/span> announcing engineered <\/span>statistics and not <\/span>taking action<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The reg<\/span>ime fears the post-coronavirus situation <\/span>and the restive Iranian society which needs a spark to explode. <\/span>As the state-run <\/span>Resalat<\/span> daily warned on <\/span>May 26:<\/span> \u201cOnly an excuse is needed. Then, like throwing a match into a haystack, it will destroy everything.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Iranian re<\/span>gime<\/span>\u2019s approach toward the COVID-19 outbreak<\/a>, form its very first days, shows that the regime<\/span> has prioritized its economic <\/span>needs and security over people\u2019s lives <\/span>and will continue doing so.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As <\/span>NCRI<\/a> President elect <\/span>Mrs. Maryam <\/a><\/span>Rajavi <\/a>said on Sunday: \u201c<\/span>This catastrophe and such great loss of lives could have been avoided. The death toll in Iran and even the official figures could not be compared to the death toll in other countries in the Middle East.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
