June 12<\/span> marks the <\/span>World Day Against Child Labo<\/span>r, but for the Iranian labor children, <\/span>it <\/span>is another day of a miserable life under the mullahs\u2019 regime.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Center for Statistics and Strategic Information of the Iranian regime’s Ministry of Labor announced the existence of half a million working children<\/span> in Iran<\/span>, according to surveys in 2017.<\/span> There have <\/span>been <\/span>different statistics on the number of street<\/span> children<\/span> and <\/span>child laborers<\/span> in Iran. <\/span>But according to the same report, the number of working children has increased by 11.5 percent <\/span>in comparison to 2015.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The state-run <\/span>Resalat<\/span> daily, in an article on June 29,<\/span> 2019, wrote: \u201cWe have around 17 million children under the age of 18. Out of this number, 14 million are going to <\/span>school. The question is: What <\/span>are the <\/span>other <\/span>three<\/span> million <\/span>children <\/span>doing?<\/span> According to a study by a faculty member at the University of Tehran in <\/span>2002<\/span>, the number of working children in Iran<\/span> at that time was <\/span>estimated at between 3 and 7 million.<\/span>\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The street and labor children in Iran are the most <\/span>vulnerable<\/span> section of society. They are forced to work amid the outbreak. Yet instead of helping them using <\/span>the regime\u2019s <\/span>va<\/span>st resources, officials blaming these poor children for the spread of COVID-19<\/a>. <\/span>O<\/span>ne of the members of the theocratic regime\u2019s parliamentary commission on health has called these child laborers \u201cthe most important source of transmission of the coronavirus.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

While the regime takes no action for helping these children, it is worth noting that the regime signed the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1991 and ratified it in 1994.<\/span> In fact, the state-run IRNA news agency wrote in <\/span>an article on <\/span>June 1<\/span>, that the problem of working children is not one of the regime\u2019s priorities.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Weekly-Signe-up-logo\"<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>Due to the regime\u2019s institutionalized corruption and wasting national wealth on <\/span>its <\/span>nuclear<\/span> and missile program<\/span>s<\/span>, terrorism, and oppression, the Iranian economy is <\/a><\/span>in<\/span> a freefall<\/a>. More citizens are joining the army of starving people<\/span>, and the coronavirus outbreak<\/a> in Iran has expedited this process.<\/span><\/p>\n
