Iran COVID-19 Crisis: Death Toll Rapidly Surging, an Emerging Tragedy<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Nearly 52,000 people<\/a> have lost their lives due to the COVID-19 pandemic<\/a> in Iran<\/span>,<\/span> according to the Iranian Resistance. The Iranian regime, although downplaying crisis, announced over 108 deaths, the highest death toll it has announced in two months. This is sign of an emerging humanitarian tragedy.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Although the regime, since the beginning of the COVID-19<\/span>,<\/span> tried to downplay this crisis, after weeks of denying its existence, the number of infections and death<\/span>s<\/span> announced by <\/span>the <\/span>mullah<\/span>s<\/span>\u2019 Health Ministry, in addition to the real death toll announced by the People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI\/MEK)<\/a> or citizen journalists, confirm how deep the coronavirus crisis<\/span> is<\/span> in Iran and <\/span>that <\/span>a huge humanitarian catastrophe awaits<\/span> the<\/span> Iranian people.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Sima<\/span> Sadat <\/span>Lari<\/span>, the <\/span>spokesperson of the <\/span>regime’s Health Ministry<\/span>,<\/span> in this regard said: \u201cThe provinces of West Azerbaijan, Hormozgan, Khuzestan, Kurdistan, Kermanshah, <\/span>Sistan<\/span> & Baluchistan, and Bushehr are in code red status. This virus is unpredictable and may catch us off guard at any moment\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The state-run IRNA<\/span> news agency<\/span> reported: \u201cA week of death awaiting Kurdistan. We should expect to experience a week filled with death\u2026 Hospitals that only had 50 coronavirus patients now have no more room to admit new patients. There are seven times more coronavirus patients than the previous wave of infection.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition<\/span>,<\/span> the state-run Fars News Agency on June 13 reported: \u201cThe governor of Western Azerbaijan province sounded the alarm about a decrease in the average age of coronavirus victims and said: ‘In the past weeks, we\u2019ve witnessed a decrease in the age of the deceased.’\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Instead of helping people, the regime is pursuing the her<\/span>d<\/span> immunity policy, which only shows how litt<\/span>le<\/span> the mullahs care for people\u2019s lives, despite having the resources to help them.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The regime\u2019s president Hassan Rouhani and supreme leader Ali Khamenei are forcing people back to work and have reopened religious sites to profit from them. In line with Khamenei and Rouhani, today <\/span>Mohammad Bagher <\/span>Qalibaf<\/span>, head of the regime\u2019s parliament<\/span>,<\/span> also asked for <\/span>a <\/span>quick reopening of all the religious sites across Iran. He said: \u201cOne point was that friends were criticizing the prolongation of the closure of mosques during the coronavirus outbreak. They believed that religious centers and mosques could implement the protocols of the Coronavirus Combat Headquarters much earlier and that mosques and the holy shrines would not be closed for so long.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Iranian regime denied the existence for the deadly COVID-19 crisis in Iran for weeks to have a larger turnout during its sham parliamentary elections, which was anyhow boycotted. Yet, <\/span>those<\/span> of the <\/span>regime\u2019s supporters who participated became the hosts of the coronavirus and spread it across Iran. In addition, while other countries stopped their flight to China and refused accepting Chinese tourists, as the country where the virus was first detected, the mullahs<\/span>\u2019<\/span> regime, for its economic and political interests, continued its fli<\/span>ghts<\/span> to China and accepted Chinese tourists. Revolutionary Guards<\/a><\/span>\u2019<\/span> (IRGC) <\/span>Mahan<\/span> A<\/span>ir played an important role in this regard.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>S<\/span>ince <\/span>the beginning of the <\/span>pandemic,<\/span> the regime <\/span>has been trying to downplay the crisis. The regime did issue a national quarantine order. Yet, it quickly ordered people back to work, since <\/span>the <\/span>mullahs, unlike other countries, were<\/span> n<\/span>o<\/span>t financially helping people<\/span> and<\/span> more people were joining the army of starving people, and <\/span>the <\/span>possibility of a nationwide uprising was looming.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Since the first days of the coronavirus outbreak, the Iranian regime, has been trying to use the COVID-19 crisis as <\/span>a <\/span>tool to quell Iran<\/span>\u2019s<\/span> restive society.\u00a0 <\/span>However,<\/span> the mullahs are not able to do this and have been experiencing their utter fear of what they call the \u201cpost-coronavirus\u201d era.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In this regard, the state-run <\/span>Etemad<\/span> online published an interview with Mohsen <\/span>Rannani<\/span>, one of the regime\u2019s experts<\/span>,<\/span> on June 14. <\/span>Ranna<\/span>n<\/span>i<\/span>, while calling the nationwide Iran protests from 2009 to November 2019 a<\/span>n <\/span>\u201c<\/span>e<\/span>arthquake,\u201d said:\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis decade will end with a social, economic and institutionalized coronavirus earthquake. This earthquake will change many of the country’s institutional and historical structures and will have a profound impact on all economic, social, and cultural spheres.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
