Iran, Ahvaz, coronavirus outbreak – June 2020<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI, Mujahedin-e Khalq or MEK) <\/a><\/span>announced<\/span> on Tuesday that <\/span>the <\/span>COVID-19 pandemic<\/a> in Iran has so far claimed <\/span>the <\/span>lives of 52,400<\/a><\/span> people. <\/span>The Iranian regime is the only party to be blamed for this tragedy.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The<\/span> National Council of the Resistance of Iran (NCRI<\/a>)<\/span> presented <\/span>documents<\/span><\/a> obtained by the MEK, from the regime\u2019s National Emergency Organization, which confirm <\/span>the virus was transmitted directly from China to Iran in early January. Yet, the mullahs\u2019 regime refused to announce this. The regime\u2019s cover-up caused a rapid spread of COVID-19 <\/span>inside Iran and turned Iran <\/span>in<\/span>to an epicenter of this disease.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I<\/span>n an interview with the <\/span>Al-Iraqiya TV<\/span> on<\/span> March 30<\/span>, <\/span>Dr. <\/span>Adham<\/span> Esmail<\/span>, the WHO representative in Iraq<\/span>,<\/span> said: \u201c<\/span>Iran spread this contagious disease to 17 countries. Iran is the cause of this contagious disease in 17 countries<\/span>.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The regime refused to announce the existence of this deadly virus <\/span>in <\/span>Iran to have a larger turnout at its sham parliamentary <\/span>elections. An election, which was anyhow massively boycotted. <\/span>The regime\u2019s interior minister, <\/span>Abdolreza<\/span> Rahmani<\/span> Fazli<\/span><\/a>, admitted on February 23: \u201cSome people recommended that we postpone the election. Regarding Qom, they insisted we postpone the election in the city. As the official responsible for the election, I did not accept any of these (recommendations).\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Revolutionary Guards<\/span>\u2019<\/span> (IRGC) <\/span><\/a>Mahan <\/span>A<\/span>ir <\/span>did not <\/span>stop its flights from or to China. <\/span>As the NCRI revealed at that time, \u201c<\/span>Owing to its strategic relations with China, however, not only did the regime refuse to cancel flights to China but also a large number of Chinese citizens traveled to Iran following the outbreak in their own country. Despite the regime\u2019s subsequent announcement that flights to China would be canceled, Mahan Air has continued its travels to and from China. The hundreds of Chinese students involved in religious studies in the city of Qom, in fact, encourage the continuation of these flights.<\/span>\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

After numerous revelations by the Iranian <\/span>R<\/span>esistance and mounting international pressure, <\/span>the mullahs\u2019 regime was forced to admit to the coronavirus outbreak. Since then, the regime started <\/span>the <\/span>second phase of <\/span>its <\/span>criminal policy: downplaying the crisis.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The regime\u2019s president, Hassan Rouhani was the frontrunner in lying and deception. <\/span>Once<\/span>,<\/span> he claimed the virus<\/span> will be over by the end of February. <\/span>Two days after the NCRI\u2019s Security and Counterterrorism Committee\u2019s revelation on March 28, Hassan Rouhani, in a star<\/span>t<\/span>l<\/span>ing retreat said: \u201cThe disease may have been introduced as early as the third week of January 2020 in Iran, but we found out about it in the third week of February. It took us a while to know. All over the world<\/span> it<\/span> was like this<\/span>.<\/span> It took some time to realize they were facing the disease<\/span>.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The r<\/span>egime\u2019s supreme leade<\/span>r, Ali Khamenei, even went as far as to foolishly speak about <\/span>\u201cbio terrorism.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The regime\u2019s <\/span>foreign minister, <\/span>Mohammad <\/span>Javad<\/span><\/a> Zarif<\/a>, and apologists made some futile efforts to depict the international sanctions <\/span>as the reason for the high COVID-19<\/a> mortali<\/span>ty rate.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The regime was forced to issue a national quarantining order, closing businesses and <\/span>religious sites <\/span>but quickly forced <\/span>people back to work and <\/span>reopened religious sites. <\/span>First and foremost, since the regime <\/span>didn\u2019t<\/span> financially help people and more were losing their jobs, mullahs feared this w<\/span>ould <\/span>spark <\/span>an explosion of anger in <\/span>the restive <\/span>Iranian society. In addition, the<\/span> regime needed people to<\/span> work<\/span> so that it could<\/span> loot them as before. The regime needed to reopen religious sites<\/span> such as holy shrines and mosques to <\/span>profit from them by misusing people\u2019s religious sentiments and taking their endowments, and particularly use mosques as centers of oppression and mobilization of its repressive forces across<\/span> the<\/span> country. In a nutshell<\/span>,<\/span> the regime prioritized its economic interests and security over people\u2019s lives.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

T<\/span>o send people back <\/span>to work<\/span>,<\/span> the regime\u2019s officials blatantly lie. Rouhani was the first to talk about \u201cwhite zones<\/span>,<\/span>\u201d a bogus claim which was shortly after <\/span>rejected by other regime officials.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Using the herd immunity policy, the regime refuses to use its vast financial resources such <\/span>as those in the <\/span>Astan<\/span>-e Quds <\/span>Razavi<\/span><\/a> and other institutions under Khamenei or <\/span>the <\/span>IRGC<\/span>\u2019s<\/span> control<\/span>. Instead,<\/span> the mullahs <\/span>are <\/span>sen<\/span>ding<\/span> people into a killing zone.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Majid <\/span>Harirchi<\/span>, the regime\u2019s <\/span>D<\/span>eputy Health Minister<\/span>,<\/span> on Monday said<\/span>: <\/span>\u201c<\/span>Iran suffered 66 deaths per day during the 1980s Iran-Iraq war while there have been 107 and 113 coronavirus deaths in the past two days<\/span>. <\/span>There are no provinces where we are not concerned about the COVID-19 trend. The only green city we have is Abu Musa. During the past few <\/span>days,<\/span> we have once again witnessed daily deaths in triple digits. These are considered high numbers for\u202fCOVID-19\u202ffatalities<\/span>. <\/span>Government agencies may decide to reimpose quarantine measures and it is then that many innocent people will be suffering from economic setbacks due to such restrictions<\/span>.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The truth is the regime is unable and <\/span>un<\/span>willing to control the COVID-19 crisis<\/a> in Iran. Despite <\/span>Harirchi\u2019s<\/span> blatant claim and shedding <\/span>of <\/span>crocodile tears for \u201cinnocent people<\/span>,<\/span>\u201d <\/span>everyone knows th<\/span>e <\/span>regime is capable <\/span>of <\/span>us<\/span>ing<\/span> its financial resources to help<\/span> the<\/span> people while maintaining quarantine measures.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

From the first days of the outbreak, the Iranian Resistance has emphasized that the assets of huge financial foundations like the Execution of Imam Khomeini\u2019s Order (EIKO), Astan Quds Razavi and other huge foundations possessed by Khamenei should be made available to the public to fight the coronavirus.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The state-run <\/span>Jomhuri<\/span>–<\/span>e <\/span>Eslami<\/span> daily in its <\/span>editorial<\/span><\/a> of April 11 wrote: “These financial powers include the Execution of Imam Khomeini\u2019s Order, <\/span>Mostazafan<\/span> Foundation of Islamic Revolution and Astan Quds Razavi. The vast financial and facilities these centers possess, if used to help the damaged society sectors by the coronavirus, will resolve these sectors\u2019 problems rapidly and completely.”<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span>monthly<\/span><\/a> salary of IRGC<\/a> mercenaries in Syria, according to information released by the <\/span>Representative <\/span>Office of the National Council of Resistance of Iran in the US in July 2016, averages about $1,000 a month. Meanwhile, according to the regime’s statistics, in a completely optimistic study, if we assume that the average salary of each nurse is 3 million tomans, it will be equal to $160 per month. (At the current exchange rate of 18,630 tomans per U.S. dollar)<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As <\/span>the <\/span>NCRI\u2019s<\/a> president-elect Mrs. Maryam <\/a><\/span>Rajavi<\/span> said: <\/span>“The increasing trend of the coronavirus nationwide as the direct result of the clerical regime’s criminal and inhuman policies. Khamenei and Rouhani are the first among officials responsible for our compatriots losing their lives on such a vast scale.”<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
