The Iranian regime\u2019s international isolation is increasing due to the mullahs\u2019 malign activities and threats. The regime has received some heavy blows, particularly within the last two weeks.\u00a0 These developments could render an overall view of the regime\u2019s increasing isolation.<\/p>\n
The International Atomic Energy<\/a> Agency\u2019s Board of Governors called on the Iranian regime on Friday to stop denying the agency access to two suspected former nuclear sites and to cooperate fully with inspectors. In this regard, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi<\/a>, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI)<\/a>, while welcoming this resolution underlined<\/a>: \u201cThe policies and actions of the mullahs\u2019 regime, five years after the nuclear deal with the P5 + 1 countries, leave no doubt that this regime has never give up the project to acquire an atomic bomb and continues the deception and concealment. The regime uses all the facilities and concessions that the nuclear deal has given it to pursue terrorism, foreign warfare, and domestic repression.\u201d This resolution increases more pressure on the regime and meanwhile confirms the regime\u2019s intentions of obtaining a nuclear bomb and that the international community should intervene immediately.<\/p>\n The clerical regime\u2019s policies and conduct, five years after the nuclear deal with P5+1 countries, leaves no shred of doubt that it has never given up its project to obtain nuclear weapons and it continues to deceive and conceal its activities. #Iran<\/a><\/p>\n \u2014 Maryam Rajavi (@Maryam_Rajavi) June 19, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n Another major blow to the Iranian regime was the U.S. House Resolution 374<\/a>, which enjoys the bipartisan support of a majority of members of the U.S. House of Representatives from 41 states and 12 committees. This resolution calls for immediate action to counter the Iranian regime\u2019s threats and \u201crecognizes the rights of the Iranian people and their struggle to establish a democratic, secular, and non-nuclear republic of Iran.\u201d<\/p>\n #Iran<\/a>: 221 U.S. lawmakers presented H. Res. 374 in support of the #Iranian<\/a> people and their resistance movement. \u2014 NCRI-FAC (@iran_policy) June 21, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n A third development, which once again underlined the regime\u2019s ongoing human rights violations, was the United Nations Human Rights Council extending the mandate<\/a> of Javaid Rehman, the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Iran.<\/p>\n UN Human Rights Council Extends Mandate of Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in #Iran<\/a> https:\/\/t.co\/HH25AY81P0<\/a><\/p>\n \u2014 NCRI-FAC (@iran_policy) June 24, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n In addition, the U.S. Department of State, dedicated a large part of its annual<\/a> country report on terrorism of 2019 to the Iranian regime\u2019s terrorism. \u00a0The State Department once again referred to the Iranian regime as a \u201cState Sponsor of Terrorism\u201d and underlined the regime\u2019s malign activities and funding of terrorist proxy groups. Earlier on May 22, the State Department, in a fact sheet<\/a>, referred to the regime\u2019s foiled bomb plot against the NCRI\u2019s annual \u201cFree Iran\u201d gathering in June 2018, which resulted in the arrest of the Iranian regime\u2019s so-called \u201cdiplomat\u201d Assadollah Assadi.<\/p>\n In addition, the U.S. presented a draft resolution to the UN Security Council to ratify the unlimited extension of the regime’s arms embargo, which is set to expire in October. China and Russia are likely to veto the resolution, but the U.S. has said it will pursue a second plan if it is vetoed. There are reports that the U.S. Plan B is to activate the automatic trigger mechanism embedded in Security Council Resolution 2231. As such, all six previous Security Council resolutions related to the Iranian regime\u2019s illegal nuclear weapons program would be re-enacted, and the extension of the regime\u2019s arms embargo would be only a part of that. \u00a0A draft resolution by the three major European powers to pass a limited extension of the arms embargo until 2023, despite being designed to prevent an unrestricted extension of the arms embargo and in the regime’s favor, was met with a reaction from the regime. Engulfed with crises and since its days are numbered, this resolution also puts pressure on the regime\u2019s warmongering machine.<\/p>\n The regime is very concerned about the extension of sanctions. In this regard, the regime’s president Hassan Rouhani has spoken about this several times and has “threatened” to retaliate.<\/p>\n The regime\u2019s so-called \u201cretaliatory actions\u201d are nothing but withdrawing from the Non-Proliferation Treaty in addition to violating the NPT\u2019s additional protocol. Withdrawing from the NPT means the regime would have completely abandoned its 2015 nuclear deal with world powers, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action or JCPOA. The regime\u2019s own experts call this action suicide and shooting at their own foot. That is because this move would further confirm the regime\u2019s intention of obtaining nuclear bombs and would result in a joint international action, even with the support of Russia and China, and could result in military action against the regime. \u00a0In this regard, the state-run Fararu website warned that \u201cwithdrawal from the NPT and its refusal is seen as a threat to access to peaceful nuclear energy and could pave the way for further confrontation with Iran[\u2019s regime].\u201d<\/p>\n Davoud Hermidas-Bavan, one of the regime\u2019s experts, while calling the regime\u2019s withdrawal from the NPT a \u201cgreat mistake,\u201d told the state-run Aftab news website: \u201cEnding the relation with the IAEA paves the way for wider sanctions and Iran[\u2019s regime] will face tougher decisions [by the international community]. In my opinion, leaving the NPT is a big mistake and will lead the [regime] to undesirable results.\u201d<\/p>\n Freydoon Majlesi, another regime expert, called the decision to leave the NPT a \u201cdangerous decision, or a \u2018to be or not to be\u2019 decision.\u201d<\/p>\n Additionally, the U.S. Treasury<\/a>, in its most recent action against the regime on Thursday, sanctioned four steel, aluminum, and iron companies operating within the Iranian regime\u2019s metals sector, including one subsidiary of Mobarakeh Steel Company \u2014 Iran\u2019s largest steel manufacturer. The U.S. Treasury has also sanctioned one Germany-based and three United Arab Emirates (UAE)-based sales agents for being owned or controlled by Mobarakeh Steel Company.<\/p>\n The Iranian regime continues to prioritize the funding of terrorist groups over the needs of the Iranian people. @USTreasury<\/a> took action today to further restrict revenues from a key Iranian sector. https:\/\/t.co\/ksVQiAdUfD<\/a><\/p>\n \u2014 Steven Mnuchin (@stevenmnuchin1) June 25, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n The Iranian regime uses vast national resources to pursue its warmongering policies.
