As the COVID-19<\/a> death toll rapidly increases in Iran, the Iranian regime<\/span>\u2019s<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>officials are<\/span>\u00a0forced to acknowledge some dimensions of this crisis.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The state-run ISNA news agency quoted Mohammad\u00a0<\/span>Kakavand<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>head of\u00a0<\/span>Borujerd<\/span>\u00a0Health and Treatment Network<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0on Sunday<\/span>\u00a0as saying: \u201c<\/span>Our on-the-ground estimates show that 20 percent of the population in\u00a0<\/span>Borujerd<\/span>\u00a0(western Iran) have contracted COVID-19. We are on the verge of more than 50 percent of the Iranian people contracting this virus<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>Of this amount<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0three to four percent will die, meaning more than one\u00a0<\/span>or<\/span>\u00a0two million Iranians<\/span>.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n In addition,\u00a0<\/span>\u200c<\/span>Behrooz<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Koleidari<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>Vice Chancellor for Treatment\u00a0<\/span>of\u00a0<\/span>Isfahan University of Medical Sciences<\/span>, said on Saturday: \u201c<\/span>About two weeks ago, we had 320 patients\u00a0<\/span>hospitalized at\u00a0<\/span>various medical centers. This morning, that number has risen to 567, and of those 567 patients, about 136 are in I<\/span>ntensive\u00a0<\/span>C<\/span>are\u00a0<\/span>U<\/span>nits. In addition,\u00a0<\/span>74\u00a0<\/span>of these patients<\/span>\u00a0are on artificial respiration<\/span>\u00a0to stay alive.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The Iranian regime\u2019s officials\u00a0<\/span>started a campaign of disinformation and cover-up of the COVID-19 since the very first days of this crisis. The regime\u2019s President, Hassan Rouhani,\u00a0<\/span>has been on the forefront of this campaign. Now the rising\u00a0<\/span>number of\u00a0<\/span>coronavirus fatalities has forced Rouhani to acknowledge the severity of this crisis.\u00a0<\/span>Rouhani on Sunday said: \u201c<\/span>Around six months have passed from when this illness began; there is no vaccine; it may continue for another three to 12 months; therefore, we must prepare ourselves for the long run<\/span>.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The mullahs\u2019 regime started covering up and downplaying the COVID-19 crisis.\u00a0<\/span>The People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI\/MEK)<\/a> announced\u00a0<\/span>on Sunday that the coronavirus death toll has surpassed\u00a0<\/span>62,000<\/a>. The rising\u00a0<\/span>COVID-19 death toll is\u00a0<\/span>a<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>direct result of dismissive and deliberately harmful policies of the Iranian regime<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0The regime denied the existence of\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>virus for weeks\u00a0<\/span>in order to<\/span>\u00a0have a\u00a0<\/span>larger turnout<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>in<\/span>\u00a0its sham parliamentary election in February. The MEK\u2019s revelations and the international pressure forced the regime to acknowledge the existence of this virus.
