Tehran, living on rooftops<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

After <\/span>shocking social <\/span>phenomena<\/span> in Iran <\/span>such as grave-sleepers<\/a>, underground dwellers<\/a>,<\/span> slum-dwellers,<\/span> and women living in holes<\/a> and canals, there is <\/span>now a <\/span>new <\/span>shocking <\/span>issue: people living on rooftops. <\/span>The Iranian regime\u2019s ominous rule has <\/span>brought<\/span> nothing but poverty, destitution, <\/span>destruction,<\/span> and war for the Iranian people.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This painful social phenomenon, like <\/span>others<\/span>, is the direct product of <\/span>the regime\u2019s institutionalized<\/span> corruption<\/span> and<\/span> people\u2019s <\/span>ultimately poverty<\/span>. The regime\u2019s wrong economic policies, along with its institutionalized corruption<\/span>,<\/span> ha<\/span>ve<\/span> increased the <\/span>cost of renting homes<\/span>. This problem, in addition to the COVID-19 pandemic <\/a><\/span>with<\/span> many people losing their jobs, <\/span>the <\/span>high inflation rate and social injustice, <\/span>has increased the number of marginalized people, with many of them sleeping on rooftops.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The state-run <\/span>Tasnim<\/span> news agency on June 25 wrote: \u201c<\/span>According to statistics from the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development<\/span>,<\/span> t<\/span>he average price per square meter of a residential unit in the 22 districts of Tehran has increased by 2 million <\/span>Tomans<\/span> to 19<\/span>.071<\/span> million<\/span> Tomans<\/span> [<\/span>around $950<\/span>]<\/span>.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In such <\/span>a <\/span>situation<\/span>,<\/span> millions of poor people who find it difficult to earn a living<\/span> are <\/span>not only <\/span>deprived <\/span>of <\/span>having a<\/span> shelter<\/span>\u00a0but also finding a place to rent can become an unattainable dream.\u00a0<\/span> Meanwhile,<\/span> t<\/span>he Iranian Real Estate Advisors Union announced on June 25: <\/span>\u201c<\/span>According to the latest census of 2016, there are 2.6 million vacant housing units in Iran.\u00a0<\/span> But most of the vacant units inside Tehran are luxury units and large areas in the north of Tehran<\/span>,<\/span> and <\/span>the <\/span>low <\/span>and middle classes of the society cannot even rent their basements or warehouses.<\/span>\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

These luxury units mostly belong to the regime\u2019s officials and their relatives. <\/span>These <\/span>v<\/span>illas and luxury houses<\/span> are also referred to as busty hills.<\/span> In this regard<\/span>,<\/span> the case of Ali Shamkhani, S<\/span>ecretary of the regime\u2019s Supreme National Security Council<\/span> and<\/span> one of the regime\u2019s top authorities<\/span>, and<\/span> his gang is an example of the regime\u2019s systematic corruption. During one of the regime\u2019s infightings, two young clerics from the rival faction exposed <\/span>Shamkhani and his family\u2019s corruption. The National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI)<\/a> in this regard published a comprehensive report. Part of this report reads: <\/span>The state-run <\/span>Ensaf<\/span> News website on March 6, 2019, following some revelations made by Milad <\/span>Goodarzi<\/span>, a member of Sadr al\u2013<\/span>Sadati\u2019s<\/span> [the cleric from rival faction]<\/span> \u2018<\/span>Justice Seeking Youth,<\/span>\u2019<\/span> published a report of <\/span>v<\/span>illas and luxury houses in <\/span>Lavasan<\/span> and busty hills in Tehran.<\/span> In a part of this report, it is mentioned that <\/span>Goodarzi<\/span> went to <\/span>Lavasan<\/span> to investigate the luxury villas of Shamkhani and his partners, and there he met Shamkhani\u2019s son-in-law, Hassan Mir Mohammad Ali. Mir Mohammad Ali tries to present himself as someone else, trying to get away from the issue, but still makes significant points in his speeches. In fact, <\/span>Hassan Mir Mohammad Ali, Shamkhani\u2019s son-in-law, is one of the most famous villa builders in <\/span>Lavasan<\/span> district.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe<\/span> state-run<\/span> Ensaf<\/span> News website published<\/span> a report on October 21, 2019, on the villas in\u202f<\/span>Lavasan<\/span>\u202fdistrict. It read:\u202f\u2018After Milad <\/span>Goudarzi\u2019s<\/span> video, a reporter attributed to the justice-seeking movement and his revelations about Hassan Mir Mohammad Ali (Ali Shamkhani<\/a>\u2019s son-in-law), we went to his villa to take a closer look at the events in <\/span>Lavasan<\/span>. Mir Mohammad Ali believed that although he had violated some law in the construction of his villa, those who accused him did not have a clear case either. He says that in <\/span>Lavasan<\/span>, construction violations are <\/span>common<\/span>\u00a0and that the municipality receives the relevant fine, which is legal. Therefore, if the violation is not to become a fine, treat everyone in the same manner,\u2019\u201d read the NCRI\u2019s report.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition, <\/span>the institutions under the control of the regime\u2019s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, alone have hundreds of billions of dollars, plundered from the Iranian people. There are also many reports of widespread corruption and rent-seeking by the regime\u2019s looters every day.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Indeed, while there are billions of dollars of resources inside Iran to help people,<\/span> the existence of such places is not only heartbreaking for any human being who witnesses these scenes, but it also shows the depth of the tragedy and chains of crises because of the mullahs\u2019 reign.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Yet, this institutionalized corruption and poverty, along with the regime\u2019s oppression, <\/span>has turned the Iranian society into a powder keg.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Mohammad-Reza Mortazavi<\/span>, <\/span>Head of the Iranian Flour Makers Association and President of the Iranian Food Industry Associations<\/span>, expressed his utter fear of the people\u2019s uprising and said: <\/span>\u201cThis social hatred that has engulfed the middle class is one of the factors hindering prosperity in the country. This hatred will turn to resentment.\u00a0 I remember the first days of the revolution. Some people were running into houses, confiscating those houses\u2026 I see that day and it is crystal clear to me, that those days are coming back. As someone who knows and looks at society, I see that this hatred is growing and [will turn into a revolution<\/span> and<\/span>] will explode.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Yes<\/span>,<\/span> as he asserted<\/span> the day <\/span>\u201c<\/span>when workers attack these busty hills and burn them to the ground,\u201d<\/span> and topple this regime is not <\/span>to<\/span>o<\/span> far.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
