Within the last two weeks, the Iranian regime has mounted oppressive measures. <\/span>The m<\/span>ullahs\u2019 Judiciary <\/span>has upheld several death sentences<\/a> for those arrested during the nationwide Iran protests in November 2019<\/a>. But this increasing oppression confirms the Iranian soci<\/span>ety\u2019s restiveness<\/span> and that the regime has lost its control<\/span>. Nevertheless, it does not <\/span>undermine<\/span> the necessity of the international community taking action to prevent bloodshed in Iran.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Last week, the regime\u2019<\/span>s <\/span>High <\/span>Court of Appeal<\/span> upheld t<\/span>he death sentences previously issued for three young men, arrested during the nationwide Iran protests. <\/span>P<\/span>olitical prisoners Amir Hossein Moradi, 26, Saeed <\/span>Tamjidi<\/span>, 28, and Mohammad <\/span>Rajabi<\/span>, 26, were arrested for participating in the November uprising and sentenced to death after being tortured for a long time.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The economic crisis, poverty, high inflation rate, the regime\u2019s institutionalized corruption<\/span> and oppression, along with the COVID-19<\/a> crisis and <\/span>the <\/span>mullahs\u2019 mismanagement of it ha<\/span>ve<\/span> turned the Iranian society into a powder keg.\u00a0 Now <\/span>senior regime officials acknowledge this <\/span>reality <\/span>that the Iranian society <\/span>needs<\/span> only<\/span> a spark to explode.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span>state-run <\/span>Mostaghel<\/span> d<\/span>aily wrote on June 29: \u201cWe will end this year with unbearable <\/span>housing rents, <\/span>shar<\/span>ed<\/span> houses, <\/span>grave dwelling<\/span>, <\/span>living in tents and on rooftops. Soon massive crowd of <\/span>poor people, who cannot afford the basics face those \u2018four percent\u2019 elites [regime\u2019s officials and their affiliates]. <\/span>Certainly,<\/span> those who have nothing to lose will not lose this struggle.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Another state-run daily, Aftab<\/span>,<\/span> warned on June 29: \u201cWhen people have nothing to lose, <\/span>they <\/span>will easily give up their lives to achieve their goal. <\/span>Before the situation worsens, [officials] should help these people.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Mullah Hashem Hashem-Zadeh <\/span>Harrisi<\/span>, <\/span>a <\/span>member of the regime\u2019s Assembly of Experts<\/span>,<\/span> in this regard said: <\/span>\u201c<\/span>The current state of society is practically unbearable<\/span>.<\/span> P<\/span>eople are moving away from the system every day.<\/span> Today the situation is very sensitive. We cannot sit and watch the system <\/span>collapse\u201d<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Engulfed with international cris<\/span>e<\/span>s and facing an explosive society, the Iranian regime desperately tries to postpone its inevitable <\/span>down<\/span>fall.\u00a0<\/span> In addition, the recent remarks by the regime\u2019s officials in this regard shows their utmost fear of a possible uprising and the leading role of the People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI\/MEK)<\/a> and its Resistance Units.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Mohammad Reza Habibi, head of the<\/span> regime\u2019s <\/span>Justice<\/span> Department in Isfahan, expressed his fear of another uprising.<\/span> He said:<\/span> \u201cLet the <\/span>MEK<\/span> <\/a>agents <\/span>know that if anything goes wrong, like what happened in 2009, December 2017-January 2018, and November last year, we will respond decisively<\/span>.<\/span> The verdict of\u2019 corruption on earth\u2019 has been approved for eight cases related to the mentioned incidents<\/span>.<\/span>\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Meanwhile the regime\u2019s Ministry of <\/span>Intelligence and Security (MOIS) has st<\/span>arted a new wave of arrest of the MEK<\/a> supporters and family members <\/span>as well as<\/span> youth. The MOIS has also summoned and threatened <\/span>a <\/span>large number of people because of their political background. <\/span>In addition, the intelligence and security forces have contacted many young people in various cities, warning them against contacting the MEK and threatening them with the consequences <\/span>for <\/span>such contacts.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ardeshir<\/span> Motahari, <\/span>one of the regime\u2019s Member<\/span>s<\/span> of Parliament<\/span>,<\/span> on Jun 22 said: <\/span>\u201cHow could we <\/span>resolve crises in a night? We are not joking about the <\/span>[regime\u2019s] security.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ebrahim Raisi<\/a>, the regime\u2019s Judiciary Chief, on June 21 said: <\/span>\u201cWe<\/span> have no limits in terms of dealing with security issues. The security of system, people<\/span>, cities and society is <\/span>an important issue for us.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Iranian Resistance has called for <\/span>immediate action by the United Nations Secretary-General, the UN Human Rights <\/span>Council,<\/span> and the High Commissioner for Human Rights, as well as relevant rapporteurs and other human rights organizations, to save the lives of political prisoners in Iran<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Nevertheless, these oppressive measures confirm the regime\u2019s utter fear of the Iranian people\u2019s uprising<\/span>. <\/span>At a time when the mullahs are e<\/span>xperiencing international isolation<\/span> and<\/span> grappling with the coronavirus crisis and economic problems, <\/span>an <\/span>explosion of the restive Iranian society would result in the regime\u2019s immediate downfall.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
