Iranian Regime’s Court Sentences Seven Political Activists to Prison<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Reports from Iran indicate the Iranian regime has started a new wave of arrest and issuing prison sentences for supporters of the People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI\/MEK)<\/a><\/span> and other<\/span> former<\/span> political prisoners.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The regime\u2019s Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS)<\/span> raided<\/a> <\/span>the <\/span>ho<\/span>m<\/span>es of several former political prisoners, MEK<\/a> supporters<\/span> and <\/span>relatives of MEK<\/a> members<\/span>, along with relatives of <\/span>political prisoners.\u00a0 <\/span>Zahra Akbari, the wife of political prisoner <\/span>Abolghasem<\/span> Fooladvand<\/span>;<\/span> Dr. Hani <\/span>Yazarlou<\/span>, and his son, Hood<\/span>;<\/span> Ms. <\/span>Sedigheh<\/span> Moradi<\/span>;<\/span> Mehdi <\/span>Khawas<\/span> Sefat<\/span>;<\/span> Mohammad <\/span>Wali<\/span> Gholamnejad<\/span>;<\/span> and <\/span>Ms. <\/span>Farangis<\/span> Mazloom<\/span>, mother of political prisoner <\/span>Sohail<\/span> Arabi<\/span>, have received prison sentences.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition, as the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI<\/a>) Security and Counterterrorism Committee <\/span>highlighted in a statement on June 28, the regime has increased pressure on political prisoners and their families \u201c<\/span>following the publication of a statement by political prisoners exposing a clerical regime\u2019s intelligence agent<\/span>.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe goal was to break the prisoners and force them to express remorse and denounce the MEK<\/a> and the Iranian resistance,\u201d read the statement.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Mrs. Maryam <\/a><\/span>Rajavi<\/span>, NCRI<\/a> President-elect<\/span>,<\/span> c<\/span>alled on the United Nations Secretary-General and the High Commissioner for Human Rights to send an international delegation to visit the regime\u2019s prisons and meet with prisoners and their families.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Riddled with crisis, the clerical regime desperately resorts to oppressive measures<\/span> against the organized Iranian Resistance. As the NCRI<\/a> wrote in its statement in this regard, \u201c<\/span>The desperate effort comes after the failure of the anti-MEK slanders and a fake petition signed by 8,000 so-called families of the MEK<\/a> members and on the eve of the Iranian Resistance\u2019s Free Iran Global Summit in solidarity with the Iranian people\u2019s uprising.<\/span>\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The f<\/span>ailure of<\/span> the regime\u2019s disinformation campaign and fake news against the MEK<\/a><\/span>,<\/span> particularly as the \u201cFree Iran Global Summit\u201d<\/span> draws closer, <\/span>h<\/span>as left the clerical <\/span>regime <\/span>no other way but oppression. <\/span>This <\/span>will not only add to the public defiance <\/span>to the regime\u2019s oppressive <\/span>polic<\/span>ies<\/span>, but<\/span> it also <\/span>highlights <\/span>the <\/span>pivotal role and impact of <\/span>the MEK<\/a> and the Iranian Resistance on the Iranian society.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Last month<\/span>, <\/span>a<\/span> German court ruled in favor of the<\/span> NCRI<\/a> <\/span>in a case challenging the content of<\/span> a<\/span> fake news<\/span> article, published on May 13 in the Frankfurter <\/span>Allgemeiner<\/span> Zeitung<\/span>, which <\/span>had violated essential journalistic standards in presenting certain allegations as factual<\/span>.\u00a0 In addition, the regime forged emails and <\/span>the MEK\u2019s \u201c<\/span>Mojahed<\/span>\u201d journal, which has not been published for a while, to pursue its demonizing campaign.\u00a0<\/span> The regime has been using those expelled from the MEK<\/a>, under the pretext of <\/span>\u201cformer<\/span> MEK members,\u201d <\/span>but this method has also failed.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In this regard, the<\/span> state-run <\/span>Rahyaftegan<\/span> website in an article wrote: <\/span>\u201cThe office of Mr. [Mahmoud] <\/span>Alavi<\/span>, the honorable minister of security and intelligence, is working around the clock and has hired some of the MEK\u2019s repentant defectors such as <\/span>Soltani<\/span>, <\/span>Khodabandeh<\/span>, <\/span>Ezati<\/span>, Hosseini, <\/span>Karimdadi<\/span>, <\/span>Mesdaghi<\/span>, Yaghmai, <\/span>Pour-Hossain, and\u2026 By putting a lot of energy and of course, financially backing them, it uses them to psychologically confront the MEK, which is great, but is it enough?\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The regime<\/span>\u2019s<\/span> 40 years of oppression, <\/span>its <\/span>export <\/span>and funding of terrorism by plundering <\/span>the <\/span>national wealth, and now <\/span>its <\/span>criminal policy of herd immunity amid the COVID-19 pandemic and <\/span>its <\/span>relative cover-up has turned the Iranian <\/span>s<\/span>ociety into a powder keg. <\/span>The MEK\u2019s Resistance Units<\/span>\u2019<\/span> activities<\/span> expand across Iran, breaking the regime\u2019s <\/span>atmosphere of fear<\/span>,<\/span> and more people are being attracted to the MEK.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Given the key role of the Iranian Resistance movement, particularly the MEK<\/a> Resistance Units<\/span>\u2019<\/span> role in <\/span>leading the Iranian society toward freedom and democracy, the international community must stand with the Iranian people and their organized resistance. <\/span>This year<\/span> the <\/span>\u201cFree Iran Global Summit<\/span>\u201d<\/span> will<\/span> send <\/span>a <\/span>strong message of support <\/span>and <\/span>solidarity to the risen people of Ira<\/span>n.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
