He said the international community needed to set clear \u201cred lines\u201d to halt Iran&#8217;s actions.<\/p>\n<p>Adel al-Jubeir told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.securityconference.de\/en\/media-library\/munich-security-conference-2017\/video\/statement-by-adel-bin-ahmed-al-jubeir\/filter\/video\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"alternate noopener noreferrer\">delegates at the Munich<\/a> Security Conference on Sunday that, the new US administration made him optimistic that regional challenges could be resolved.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe see a president who is pragmatic and practical, a businessman, problem-solver, a man who\u2019s not an ideologue,\u201d Jubeir said of Trump. \u201cHe wants America to play a role in the world. Our view is that when America disengages, it creates tremendous danger in the worlds, because it leaves vacuums, and into those vacuums evil forces flow.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Saudi Arabia shared common goals with Trump, he added. \u201cHe believes in destroying Islamic State; so do we,\u201d Jubeir said. \u201cHe believes in containing Iran; so do we. He believes in working with traditional allies; so do we.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In his talk, one of a series of speeches Sunday under the heading \u201cOld Problems, New Middle East?\u201d Jubeir reminded European colleagues who are nervous about the Trump administration that when Ronald Reagan took office in 1981 there was also a lot of concern in Europe, yet Reagan brought stability to the region and ended the Cold War.<\/p>\n<p>The biggest challenge facing the region is Iran, he said, \u201cIran remains the single main sponsor of terrorism in the world,\u201d the Saudi minister said. \u201cIt\u2019s determined to upend the order in Middle East \u2026 [and] until and unless Iran changes its behavior it would be very difficult to deal with a country like this.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jubeir said that \u201cIran is the only one in the Middle East that hasn\u2019t been targeted by Islamic State and al-Qaeda,\u201d implying that there was a relationship between the regime and the terror groups.<\/p>\n<p>The foreign minister also claimed that the Iranians took advantage of the good will of the P5+1 nations negotiating the 2015 nuclear deal. They \u201cstepped up the tempo of their mischief\u201d while the negotiations were taking place, he said, and continue to do so today.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI believe that Iran knows where the red lines are if the red lines are drawn clearly, and I believe that the world has to make it clear to the Iranians that there is certain behavior that will not be tolerated, and that there will be consequences,\u201d Jubeir told the conference. \u201cAnd those consequences have to be in tune with the financial side.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jubeir said that extending a hand to Iran would not work. \u201cFor 35 years, we have offered Iran our friendship and support,\u201d he said, \u201cand got nothing but death and
