NCRI –\u00a0Invited by Romanian Representatives Committee For a Free Iran and Ashraf Association, a conference was held in Bucharest, Romania, on Tuesday February 28, 2017.<\/p>\n
Co-directed by Mr. Romeo Nicoara, Romanian MP and Chairman of Romanian Representatives Committee For a Free Iran, and President of Ashraf Association \u2018Ms. Anda Abicolisi\u2019, the conference was participated by a number of political and human rights activists, Syrian opposition figures, and some of pro-PMOI Iranians.<\/p>\n
At the beginning of the conference, Romeo Nicoara reminded the International Women\u2019s Day and pointed to PMOI\u2019s five decades of continuous fight for freedom and democracy, saying \u201ctoday, this fight is still going on in the context of a larger coalition named National Council of Resistance of Iran, presided by Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, and is aimed at realizing the ten-article statement whose contents are entirely consistent with international conventions on human rights.\u201d<\/p>\n
Romeo Nicoara added that the Iranian regime\u2019s interventions in countries in the region has given rise to religious extremism and called for the Revolutionary Guards to be listed as a terrorist organization. He also pointed to the execution of more than 120 thousand political prisoners in Iran, including the massacre of 30 thousands in 1988.<\/p>\n
Later in the conference, Romanian MP \u2018Mrs. Kurkesh\u2019 commented on the violation of human rights and double repression of women in Iran. She then pointed to the testament Reyhaneh Jabbari wrote to her mother, saying \u201cRayhaneh was just 19 when she was arrested. She only defended herself while being assaulted by a security official, and nowhere in the world is self-defense considered a crime. However, she was brutally hanged in Mullahs\u2019 regime. This shows the Iranian women\u2019s will to reach freedom and fight for change. Along with Romeo, I also support this resistance and its presidecy.\u201d<\/p>\n
Romeo Nicoara then asked the audience to pay attention to Mrs. Maryam Rajavi\u2019s speech made on International Women\u2019s Day 2016.<\/p>\n
After the video of the speech was played, Romanian MP \u2018Mara Marsh\u2019 began her speech by saying \u201cthis is my first term in the Parliament. I was impressed listening to Mrs. Maryam Rajavi\u2019s speech. I know it\u2019s hard to fight for freedom, but I\u2019m pretty sure that you\u2019ll prevail.\u201d<\/p>\n
The fourth speaker was the lawyer and President of Ashraf Association Mrs. Anda Abicolisi. She spoke about Iran\u2019s discriminatory laws and how the Iranian women are denied having equal rights with men. She also pointed to indiscriminate death sentences which are issued by courts without following the least internationally recognized procedures.<\/p>\n
The next speaker was Mrs. Habiba Khalifa, member of Syrian opposition and political science student, who described Bashar Assad\u2019s crimes in Syria carried out with the help of Revolutionary Guards. \u201cif it wasn\u2019t for the Iranian regime\u2019s military and financial support, Syria wouldn\u2019t have been destroyed like this\u201d, she said. She also asked for stopping the Iranian regime\u2019s interventions in Syria and demanded the international community to list the Revolutionary Guard as a terrorist group.<\/p>\n
As the last speaker, Muhammad Rifaee, Syrian opposition official in Romania, gave his speech. He said that more than 600 thousand people are killed and millions made homeless during six years of war in Syria. He added that there are documentary evidence available today showing that tens of thousands have been killed under torture or executed without trial in Syria\u2019s prisons, which could definitely be regarded as crime against humanity. Muhammad Rifaee called for Revolutionary Guards\u2019 withdrawal from Syria, saying that this satanic force must be listed as a terrorist group. He concluded his speech wishing the collapse of the Mullahs\u2019 regime and prevailing of the Resistance of Iran.<\/p>\n
To commemorate the Women\u2019s Day, a red rose was given at the end of the conference to each of the female guests by supporters of Resistance of Iran.<\/p>\n
