NCRI –\u00a0The cabinet of former President of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, is said to have stolen $17.6 billion from the country\u2019s oil revenues.<\/p>\n
The head of the budget commission in the Parliament of Iran said that the interior ministry has also taken around $10.5 billion during the same period.<\/p>\n
Between $2.6 and $3.2 billion of these funds are to do with permissions granted to import gasoline. During his time in office, Ahmadinejad illegally gave oil in exchange for gasoline.
His cabinet was also implicated in the purchase of petrochemical products from companies in Iran at global prices and the sale of them at local prices. The profits made from this were never recorded.<\/p>\n
Police in Iran were also involved in illegal activities. The cabinet of Ahmadinejad reportedly gave oil to the police to sell in foreign markets and to pay employee salaries. However, what happened the profits is unknown.
Those behind such huge thefts of funds are still to face the consequences of their actions.<\/p>\n
The whereabouts of other huge sums of money are still unknown too. For example, as a result of the Iran nuclear deal approximately $100 billion was freed up.<\/p>\n
An Iranian MP, Alireza Suleimani, questioned: \u201cAccording to this constitutional principal, all the government\u2019s incoming money must be gathered in the treasury. Mr. Salehi said this week we have received $100 billion through the JCPOA. The question is, was this money placed into the treasury, and if so, where was it spent? If this money has been deposited into the treasury, why don\u2019t banks have the ability to provide for the people and are facing possible bankruptcy? Why is the stock market in such poor conditions?\u201d<\/p>\n
