Parallel with downplaying<\/span> the pandemic<\/span>, and forcing people back to work, the regime\u2019s president Hassan Rouhani now speaks of holding <\/span>the religious <\/span>\u201c<\/span>Ashura<\/span>\u201d <\/span>ceremon<\/span>ies<\/span> amid<\/span> the<\/span> pandemic.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Despite the growing number of deaths on <\/span>a <\/span>daily basis, even according to the regime\u2019s own engineered statistics, <\/span>Rouhani calls for holding Ashura ceremon<\/span>ies<\/span> and mourning <\/span>processions <\/span>for <\/span>Shi\u2019ite Islam\u2019s <\/span>third<\/span> Imam, Hossain-ibn-Ali?\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Mrs. <\/span>Maryam Rajavi<\/span><\/a>, the president-elect of the <\/span>National Council of Resistance of Iran<\/span> (NCRI)<\/span><\/a>,<\/span> said:<\/span> The decision by Khamenei and Rouhani to hold the mourning ceremonies during the month of Moharram and the deliberate sending of people to their death is the continuation of the strategy of mass human casualties as a barrier against the danger of the uprising and the regime’s overthrow.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Taking maximum risk, #Iran<\/a> nurses have been working for 6 months, contracting the virus group after group. The health system is in dire need of new healthcare workers. This is while the Hajj pilgrimage has been suspended for the first time to save the lives of Muslims. Destroying the country’s health care system by refusing to hire nurses who are ready to serve is another part of the regime’s strategy. This is particularly the case because the nurses who have made enormous sacrifices for the past six months and are being infected in groups, urgently need reinforcement.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The regime mainly seeks to have larger mass casualties to control the restive Iranian society<\/span>. In addition, and similar to reopening religious sites, the<\/span> regime<\/span> intends to hold Ashura ceremon<\/span>ies<\/span> because it<\/span> has been using the Iranian people\u2019s religious sentiments to further plunder <\/span>the public<\/span> and to<\/span> show it has <\/span>some <\/span>legitimacy<\/span> and boost the <\/span>moral<\/span>e<\/span> of its forces.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Yet, the current state of Iranian society with growing public hatred toward the regime <\/span>is <\/span>being demonstrated in one way or another, such as <\/span>the <\/span>unprecedented boycott of the regime\u2019s <\/span>sham parliamentary elections in February and daily protests across the country.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Steps taken by the regime since the arrival of novel coronavirus in Iran in mid-February suggest<\/span> the<\/span> mullahs <\/span>are using <\/span>the <\/span>pandemic as <\/span>a tool to control the restive Iranian society.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The regime first denied the existence of virus in Iran. <\/span>The <\/span>Revolutionary Guards continued their flights to and from China, while other countries had canceled their flight to China, since <\/span>the country was the epicenter of this virus. Opting for a large<\/span>r<\/span> turnout during its sham parliamentary elections, <\/span>the <\/span>mullahs\u2019 regime concealed the <\/span>fact that several people have been infected and lost their lost lives due to the coronavirus. <\/span>The election met a general boycott, but those few supporters of the regime <\/span>that <\/span>participated in <\/span>this election<\/span> became hosts of the virus and spread it across Iran. <\/span>The s<\/span>ubsequent downplaying of <\/span>the crisis<\/span>, when the regime\u2019s forc<\/span>es<\/span> admitted to <\/span>the virus<\/span>\u2019<\/span> existence, rapidly ending a premature quarantine, suggested the regime <\/span>ha<\/span>d<\/span> no intention of combatting COVID-19.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Iranian regime forced people back to <\/span>work because<\/span> more of them were adding to the army of starving people, in <\/span>a quarantine that was not accompanied by governmental support unlike other countries. The explosive Iranian society once erupted in<\/span> the<\/span> November<\/span><\/a> nationwide Iran protests and shook the regime\u2019s <\/span>foundations. The regime is not willing to have the same bitter experience again which could lead to its downfall.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Rouhani\u2019s remark<\/span>s about sending people back to work speaks for itself: \u201c<\/span>The simplest way is to shut down activities.\u202fThe next day people will be protesting due to starvation, pressure, and problems<\/span>.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Rouhani ha<\/span>s recently pointed to the extent of this crisis, thus showing how deep the crisis is. <\/span>\u201cTo this day 25 million Iranians have contracted the novel coronavirus, and we need to assume 30 to 35 million are in danger of being infected by this virus. Over 200,000 persons were hospitalized. The number of people hospitalized in the future will be around twice the number we have witnessed in the past 150 days,\u201d he said<\/span> recently<\/span>, quoting a report published by the regime\u2019s Health Ministry.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

No<\/span>w<\/span> in such a situation<\/span>,<\/span> the international community must intervene to prevent a major humanitarian catastrophe.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

T<\/span>he state-run <\/span>Mostahgel<\/span><\/a> daily wrote <\/span>recently<\/span>: \u201c<\/span>This nation will not forget how it was abandoned during these bitter days.\u00a0 This will affect the upcoming incidents. Because soon, people will come to their table for eating, and their despair of an empty table will lead them to protest on busy streets. Then these wounded and deprived people will have nothing else left to lose.
