Understanding Iran Regime\u2019s Dirty Deal With China<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

In recent weeks, <\/span>international <\/span>media outlets and even <\/span>Iran\u2019s <\/span>state-run media <\/span>have<\/span> reported on<\/span> a deal between the mullahs\u2019 regime and China, with <\/span>the <\/span>mullahs handing over some Iranian islands to the <\/span>Chinese government for 25 years.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The regime is handing some of the most important islands to China <\/span>out of desperation to find an international ally <\/span>as <\/span>the noose of sanctions around<\/span> the<\/span> mullahs\u2019 neck tightens.\u00a0<\/span> Previously, the National Council of Resistance of Iran (<\/span>NCRI<\/span><\/a>) in this regard <\/span>wrote<\/span><\/a>: <\/span>\u201cThe regime is handing the Kish island to China in exchange for military, regional and international support. Particularly, the mullahs\u2019 regime fears the upcoming decision of the United Nations Security Council over an extension of the arms embargo on the regime.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Here we intend to understand several facts of this one-sided <\/span>agreement: the first fact is that <\/span>China, if <\/span>forced to<\/span>, will prioritize its interests in relation with the United States <\/span>rather than keeping up its support of the Iranian regime. <\/span>One example was<\/span> China\u2019s action in not vetoing the United Nations Security Council\u2019s Resolution regarding the <\/span>regime\u2019s nuclear program<\/span><\/a>, and in <\/span>fact,<\/span> voting in favor of it.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Even the regime\u2019s state-run media have acknowledged that China is not \u201ca reliable partner.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The state-run Jahan-e <\/span>Sanat<\/span> daily<\/span> in an article in this regard<\/span>, entitle<\/span>d<\/span> as \u201cReliable partner or <\/span>a <\/span>fair-weather<\/span>?\u201d wrote: <\/span>\u201cIn <\/span>a <\/span>crucial situation, China such as Russia preserved its interests with the U.S.<\/span> and when it was needed, if its interests were jeopardized, turned its back on Islamic Republic.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The regime\u2019s officials have refused to <\/span>publish<\/span> the text of<\/span> this agreement. They fear that this might <\/span>trigger and explosion in <\/span>the restive society and <\/span>amplify the hatred of a people who are being crushed under economic pressure.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/a>Yet the Petroleum-Economist in an <\/span>article<\/span><\/a> in this regard in September 2019 wrote:\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. \u201c<\/span>Chinese companies will be given the first refusal to bid on any new, stalled or uncompleted oil and gas field developments<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
      \n
    1. Chinese firms will also have first refusal on opportunities to become involved with <\/span>any and all<\/span> petchems<\/span> projects in Iran, including the provision of technology, systems, process ingredients and personnel required to complete such projects.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
        \n
      1. China will also be able to buy any and all oil, gas and <\/span>petchems<\/span> products at a minimum guaranteed discount of 12pc to the six-month rolling mean price of comparable benchmark products, plus another 6pc to 8pc of that metric for risk-adjusted compensation.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
          \n
        1. China intends to <\/span>utilise<\/span> the low cost <\/span>labour<\/span> available in Iran to build factories, designed and overseen by large Chinese manufacturing companies, with identical specifications and operations to those in China, according to the Iranian source.<\/span>\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          In return the regime <\/span>gets this chance to strengthen its <\/span>oppressive force. As the Oil Price website wrote on July 6: <\/span>\u201cPart of the new military co-operation includes an exchange of personnel between Iran and China and Russia, with up to 110 senior Iranian\u202f<\/span>IRGC<\/span><\/a>\u202fmen going for training every year in Beijing and Moscow and 110 Chinese and Russians going to Tehran for their training.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

          While the regime auctions Iran and gives away national wealth <\/span>to prolong its rule, the Iranian people are struggling with poverty and <\/span>the <\/span>COVID-19 pandemic<\/span><\/a>. The latter<\/span> has claimed <\/span>the <\/span>lives of over <\/span>78,000 people<\/span> because of the regime\u2019s inaction, deliberate cover-up<\/span> and forcing people back to work.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

          In this regard, the state-run <\/span>Mehr<\/span> News agency wrote: <\/span>\u201c<\/span>Only 30% of <\/span>Khuzestani<\/span> household income is spent on food, which indicates that food security <\/span>does not have<\/span> a good indicator.<\/span>\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

          The regime\u2019s institutionalized corruption<\/span> and its funding of terrorism, as well as the wrong economic policies ha<\/span>ve<\/span> increased the rate of essential goods. Thus, <\/span>some vital items such as milk, meat and <\/span>vegetables will be removed from the food basket <\/span>for<\/span> most Iranians<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

          In a report published on May 31, <\/span>the Research<\/span> Center of the Iranian regime\u2019s parliament wrote: <\/span>\u201c<\/span>The first factor in the country\u2019s economic decline is the fall in the national GDP.<\/span> T<\/span>he average inflation rate in the last four decades has been 20 percent, while the average inflation rate in the world has fluctuated at around 3 to 4 percent.<\/span>\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

          I<\/span>n a nutshell<\/span>,<\/span> as<\/span> Mrs. <\/span>Maryam <\/span>Rajavi<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>the <\/span>NCRI\u2019s<\/span><\/a> president-elect<\/span>,<\/span> had said: <\/span>\u201c\u201cFor Khomeini, [regime\u2019s supreme leader Ali] Khamenei and Rouhani, neither water, nor the land, nor the culture, nor the lives, nor the wealth of the Iranian people have any value. Only one thing matters: Preserving the rule of the mullahs, which Khomeini described as the \u2018absolute imperative,\u2019 and for which one can abrogate Islamic edicts, and first and foremost give away the land and water of Iran and its people and massacre its valiant children in the prisons. Indeed, what could an invader do that the mullahs have not done to Iran and the Iranian people. The mullahs are among the worst in Iran\u2019s history.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
