\"Central-Bank-2-jpg\"Abdolnaser<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Hemati<\/span>, the Iranian regime\u2019s Central Bank President<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0acknowledged that rising prices of goods and the inflation<\/a> rate is due to the regime\u2019s wrong economic policies.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In his personal Instagram account<\/span>, while pointing\u00a0<\/span>out\u00a0<\/span>that increasing prices is not just due to\u00a0<\/span>the m<\/span>onetary base and liquidity<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>growth<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>Hemati<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>wrote<\/span><\/a>:\u00a0<\/span>\u201c<\/span>Purchasing part of the currency’s resources of the National Development Fund to cover the budget deficit by the Central Bank (as mandated in this year’s budget) in the case of sanctions is to cover the budget deficit from the monetary base. In the short term, this would be like borrowing from the\u00a0<\/span>C<\/span>entral\u00a0<\/span>B<\/span>ank.<\/span>\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This new way of borrowing from the\u00a0<\/span>C<\/span>entral\u00a0<\/span>B<\/span>ank\u00a0<\/span>by<\/span> the regime\u2019s President Hassan Rouhani\u2019s government is due to its total bankruptcy.\u00a0 Rouhani with\u00a0<\/span>the approval of\u00a0<\/span>Ali Khamenei, the regime\u2019s supreme\u00a0<\/span>leader<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>withdrew a significant amount of currency from the National Development Fund to remit it to the\u00a0<\/span>C<\/span>entral\u00a0<\/span>B<\/span>ank to\u00a0<\/span>somehow cover its\u00a0<\/span>staggering budget deficit.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>This led to<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>49.5<\/span>%<\/span>\u00a0increase<\/span>\u00a0of the country’s monetary base<\/a> and\u00a0<\/span>rising<\/span> inflation\u00a0<\/span>and ultimately<\/span>\u00a0led to an increase in the price of goods and services.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Government<\/span>s<\/span>\u00a0in the<\/span>\u00a0Iranian regime, due to its institutionalized corruption and wasting billions of dollars on terrorism<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>have been always grappling with budget deficit. Yet, sinc<\/span>e Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani was the regime\u2019s president, different governments used borrowing from the\u00a0<\/span>C<\/span>entral\u00a0<\/span>B<\/span>ank as the only way to\u00a0<\/span>cover their budget deficit.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Now, under international sanctions for its illicit activities and the rising value of dollar in Iran, the regime is unable to use this method to cover its budget deficit.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

One of the regime\u2019s state-run news agencies,\u00a0<\/span>Banker<\/span><\/a>, described this situat<\/span>ion as the \u201cCentral Bank Empty Gun.\u201d \u201c<\/span>The growth of the increase in the foreign reserves of the Central Bank (due to the currencies of the National Development Fund) had a greater share than the growth of the monetary base itself. In fact, the high increase in the monetary base is due to the use of\u00a0<\/span>C<\/span>entral\u00a0<\/span>B<\/span>ank resources to cover the budget deficit, this time referred to as the National Development Fund. The difference is that at present, the\u00a0<\/span>C<\/span>entral\u00a0<\/span>B<\/span>ank does not have access to foreign currencies and\u00a0<\/span>cannot<\/span>\u00a0receive foreign exchange resources to control market fluctuations in exchange for the\u00a0<\/span>R<\/span>ial provided to the government. This shows why the\u00a0<\/span>C<\/span>entral\u00a0<\/span>B<\/span>ank was able to control inflation in the\u00a0<\/span>2000s but<\/span>\u00a0does not have the tools\u00a0<\/span>now<\/span>. The\u00a0<\/span>C<\/span>entral\u00a0<\/span>B<\/span>ank has\u00a0<\/span>an<\/span>\u00a0empty weapon\u00a0<\/span>but<\/span>\u00a0seeks to stabilize currency fluctuations.<\/span>\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In this regard,\u00a0<\/span>Majid Reza Hariri<\/a>, head of the Iran-China Chamber of Commerce,\u00a0<\/span>while referring to<\/span>\u00a0the regime’s\u00a0<\/span>difficulties in having banking transaction with\u00a0<\/span>China and Russia said:\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u201c<\/span>At present, we have practically no banking transactions with Russia and China, and if someone with an Iranian passport applies for banking services in these countries, it will be refused.<\/span>\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In 2018, even before the United States withdr<\/span>ew<\/span>\u00a0from the\u00a0<\/span>Iran 2015 nuclear deal<\/a> with world powers and reimpose sanctions, the Iranian regime tried to cover its budget deficit by\u00a0<\/span>influencing the\u00a0<\/span>selling\u00a0<\/span>of\u00a0<\/span>dollar at the ex<\/a><\/span>change rate of 20,000\u00a0<\/span>in the\u00a0<\/span>black market<\/span>\u00a0through exchange market<\/span>\u00a0and made a huge profit<\/span>. Yet,\u00a0<\/span>since then Iran\u2019s currency has been fluctuating.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The freefall of\u00a0<\/span>Iran\u2019s<\/span>\u00a0currency is an indicator of\u00a0<\/span>the<\/span>\u00a0government\u2019s absolute economic bankruptcy. The current value of Iran\u2019s currency, along with other\u00a0<\/span>signs<\/span>\u00a0such\u00a0<\/span>as\u00a0<\/span>inflation and liquidity rate, adds more pressure on the Iranian people.\u00a0 According to state-run media, the terrible amount of liquidity has reached 2651 trillion tomans. This huge amount of liquidity will result in a rising inflation rate and higher prices.<\/span>\u00a0The regime\u2019s budget deficit and<\/span> its economic failure have increased amid the COVID-19 outbreak<\/a>. But most importantly, the regime\u2019s institutionalized corruption and misusing\u00a0<\/span>of\u00a0<\/span>funds to<\/span>\u00a0continue its illicit activities leaves no solution for this crisis.\u00a0 As\u00a0<\/span>Hussain\u00a0<\/span>Raghfar<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0one of the regime\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>economists<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0said: \u201c<\/span>One of the most important decisions to make is to raise the exchange rate. Certainly, the consequences of this decision will be on all people, society,\u00a0<\/span>production,<\/span>\u00a0and the future of the economy<\/span>.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In a nutshell, the economic pressure, along with the regime\u2019s oppression and\u00a0<\/span>mismanagement of the COVID-19 with its rising death toll, ha<\/span>ve<\/span>\u00a0turned the Iranian society into a powder keg<\/a> ready to be exploded.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In this regard, the state-run Arman daily wrote on August 2:\u00a0<\/span>\u201c<\/span>The c<\/span>urrent situation of<\/span>\u00a0foreign exchange market\u00a0<\/span>that<\/span> has witnessed in the last two weeks, the dollar<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0that was sold at the exchange rate of 26<\/span>,000\u00a0<\/span>Tomans<\/span>, has<\/span>\u00a0reached 20<\/span>,000\u00a0<\/span>Tomans with a fall of 6<\/span>,000\u00a0<\/span>Tomans and has returned to nearly 24<\/span>,000\u00a0<\/span>Tomans<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>and\u00a0<\/span>could result in anything. These behaviors of the\u00a0<\/span>C<\/span>entral\u00a0<\/span>B<\/span>ank are very risky. Because this situation can provide a platform for the occurrence of some social issues,\u00a0<\/span>developments,<\/span> and uprisings in society. In other words, the current economic situation of the country has reached a critical point … We in the country are facing the challenge of unemployment, inflation, recession, and similar issues.<\/span>\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
