\"Workers-strike\"<\/p>\n

Oil and petrochemical workers<\/a> are staging strikes in southern oil-rich provinces of Iran.\u00a0<\/span>Although there are different daily protests by all walks of life in Iran<\/span>, the oil workers\u2019 strike has a<\/span>\u00a0direct impact on the regime\u2019s oil-dependent economy.\u00a0<\/span>Workers slogans, their demands and most importantly identifying the regime<\/span>\u00a0as the source of their problem also debunks the regime\u2019s continuous efforts\u00a0<\/span>to blame<\/span>\u00a0U.S. sanctions as\u00a0<\/span>the real source of\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>economic crisis.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

These\u00a0<\/span>strikes<\/span><\/a>\u00a0started on Saturday,\u00a0<\/span>when\u00a0<\/span>workers and employees of Abadan and\u00a0<\/span>Mahshahr<\/span>\u00a0refineries,\u00a0<\/span>Qeshm<\/span>\u00a0Heavy Oil Refinery, as well as workers and employees of\u00a0<\/span>Parsian<\/span>\u00a0Refinery, Petrochemical Company in\u00a0<\/span>Lamerd<\/span>\u00a0in Fars province,\u00a0<\/span>and phases 22 and 24 of South Pars in\u00a0<\/span>Kangan<\/span>\u00a0in\u00a0<\/span>Bushehr Province<\/span>\u00a0protested to their harsh working conditions<\/span>, lack of minimum safety provisions, and their delayed paychecks<\/span>. These<\/span>\u00a0striking workers condemned those breaking the strike and underscored that their names would be published in the next phase of the protest campaign.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In this regard, Mrs. Maryam\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Rajavi<\/span>, the president-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI)<\/a><\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>hailed the striking workers<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>and emphasized that the oppressed workers have risen to obtain their plundered rights by the anti-labor regime.<\/span>\u00a0\u201cT<\/span>hrough oppressive contracts, the clerical regime exploits the workers and does not even pay their meager wages. It squanders the country\u2019s capital in nuclear and missile projects as well as terrorism or plunders it or sends it to the bank accounts of its officials and their families abroad<\/span>,\u201d\u00a0<\/span>Mrs.\u00a0<\/span>Rajavi<\/span>\u00a0underscored<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Iranian regime\u2019s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei,\u00a0<\/span>President<\/span>\u00a0Hassan Rouhani, and\u00a0<\/span>other officials<\/span>\u00a0have been trying to\u00a0<\/span>blame<\/span>\u00a0international<\/span>\u00a0sanctions for the economic hardships<\/span>. The regime\u2019s ongoing support of terrorism, testing ballistic missiles<\/a>, and institutionalized corruption not only debunk<\/span>\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>mullahs\u2019 propaganda but show they have no intention of helping\u00a0<\/span>people, particularly amid the COVID-19<\/a> pandemic and\u00a0<\/span>its rising death toll. Recently the\u00a0<\/span>regime\u2019s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC)<\/a> tested new ballistic missiles during the second day of the final stage of their naval drills in southern Iran<\/span>. In addition, Hassan Nasrallah<\/a>, head of\u00a0<\/span>Lebanese Hezbollah terrorist organization<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0in\u00a0<\/span>a recent<\/span>\u00a0interview said: \u201cThe Iranian gove<\/span>rnment has been paying us monthly. But the last time Haji\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Qassem<\/span>\u00a0[Soleimani,<\/span>\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0eliminated head of the IRGC Quds Force<\/a> and the regime\u2019s terror mastermind] came to Beirut and we met,\u00a0<\/span>he paid\u00a0<\/span>our wages\u00a0<\/span>for the\u00a0<\/span>four<\/span>\u00a0upcoming months.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>The People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI\/MEK)<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/span>revealed<\/span><\/a>\u00a0in April 2020 that the IRGC Quds Force \u201c<\/span>is continuing to transfer cash to the Hezbollah in Lebanon. Part of the money is sent in the form of special packages and suitcases carried by the\u202f<\/span>Quds Force<\/span><\/a>\u2019s Intelligence Protection Officers in flights from Tehran to Lebanon.<\/span>\u201d<\/span>\u00a0These facts only confirm that the mullahs\u2019 regime, having control over Iran\u2019s vast resources, can help the Iranian workers but it refuses to do\u00a0<\/span>so, and<\/span>\u00a0it<\/span>\u00a0prioritize<\/span>s<\/span>\u00a0export of terrorism over people\u2019s lives and welfare.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In a nutshell, t<\/span>he regime refuses to pay workers paychecks and blames sanctions and not \u201chaving enough resources\u201d but continues\u00a0<\/span>funding its illicit activities, for which it has been sanctioned.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the\u00a0<\/span>huge\u00a0<\/span>financial institutions, such as\u00a0<\/span>Astan-e Quds Razavi<\/span><\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>t<\/span>he Execution of Imam Khomeini\u2019s Order (EIKO)<\/span>\u00a0and other foundations\u00a0<\/span>possessed by Khamenei, refuse to help the Iranian people.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>According to\u00a0<\/span>Behzad\u00a0<\/span>Nabavi<\/span>, a government minister in several administrations<\/span>\u00a0in Iran<\/span>:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u201cThere<\/span>\u00a0are four institutions which control 60 percent of the national wealth. This includes Executive Headquarters of Imam\u2019s Directive (<\/span>Setad<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Ejraie<\/span>\u00a0Farman Imam), Khatam-<\/span>ol<\/span>–<\/span>Anbia<\/span>\u00a0Base,\u00a0<\/span>Astan<\/span>-e Quds and Foundation of the Oppressed and Disabled. None of these institutions are in connection with the government and parliament.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The state-run\u00a0<\/span>Jomhuri<\/span>-e\u00a0<\/span>Eslami<\/span>\u00a0daily<\/span><\/a>\u00a0in its editorial in early April wrote:\u00a0<\/span>\u201c<\/span>These financial powers include the Execution of Imam Khomeini\u2019s Order,\u00a0<\/span>Mostazafan<\/span>\u00a0Foundation of Islamic Revolution and\u00a0<\/span>Astan<\/span>\u00a0Quds\u00a0<\/span>Razavi<\/span>. The vast financial and facilities these centers possess, if used to help the damaged society sectors by the coronavirus, will resolve these sectors\u2019 problems rapidly and completely. These assets and facilities belong to people and should be exactly used in such situations to resolve people\u2019s problems.<\/span>\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cConsidering the economic recession caused by the coronavirus, what will the big financial institutions such as the Execution of Imam Khomeini\u2019s Order, the\u00a0<\/span>Mostazafan<\/span>\u00a0Foundation of Islamic Revolution and\u00a0Astan\u00a0Quds do if they do not spend their money for the impoverished people?\u201d<\/span>\u00a0the article added.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition,<\/span>\u00a0the state-run\u00a0<\/span>Jamaran<\/span>\u00a0website published an article on May 1, the International Workers\u2019<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Day.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0The statistics this state-run daily gives, although many times less than the reality<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0are\u00a0<\/span>nonetheless\u00a0<\/span>staggering.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>40 years of consecutive inflation and the recent decade\u2019s economic crisis, which have destroyed Iran\u2019s middle class, have increased the population of workers<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>If a worker, before the revolution, could purchase a house in 24-year installments, now in 2020, they must pay 137 years of installments to have a house.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>while workers\u2019 income has increased 900 times, yet approximately, the fuel, bread, and automobile prices have increased by a factor of 3,000, housing prices 6,000, and the coin price 10,000. Of course, this is only about 12-13 million official workers in the country. There are about 5 million workers in the country who are completely forgotten, and their situation is worse,” read the article.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The recent strike\u00a0<\/span>by\u00a0<\/span>oil workers and employees<\/span>, along with ongoing protests by workers and people from all walks of life in Iran, shows they know the real source of their problem is the regime. These protests and strikes also show\u00a0<\/span>how these workers are<\/span>\u00a0grappling with poverty and<\/span>\u00a0cannot tolerate the situation anymore.\u00a0<\/span>They\u00a0<\/span>have reached a point where they have nothing to\u00a0<\/span>lose<\/span>\u00a0and this is a very dangerous situation for the regime.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As the s<\/span>t<\/span>ate-run\u00a0<\/span>Jamaran<\/span>\u00a0daily\u00a0<\/span>wrote<\/span><\/a>: \u201cA\u00a0<\/span>huge part of the November 2019 protesters [the nationwide Iran protests sparked by the sudden increase in fuel prices] are the unemployed children of these workers. This year, what choice does a government with zero oil revenue and a 50% budget deficit have other than printing banknotes? And this means a higher inflation rate and workers\u2019 table shrinking, making the next protesting force more explosive. Will anyone listen? Is there a will to bring the country out of this bone-breaking deadlock?<\/span>\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In this regard, the\u00a0<\/span>Setareh\u00a0<\/span>Sobh<\/span>\u00a0daily<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0in an article,<\/span>\u00a0published in<\/span>\u00a0August 1<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0wrote:\u00a0<\/span>\u201c<\/span>We have to wait for all kinds of social ills and social uprisings. The same uprising<\/span>s<\/span>\u00a0that\u00a0<\/span>erupted<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>in December 2017 and November 2019; If the government\u00a0<\/span>cannot<\/span>\u00a0answer people’s frustration and the economic problems, it must wait for the consequences and the next bad events.<\/span>\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
