NCRI –\u00a0In an interview with the Iranian Resistance Satellite TV channel on the press conference held by the National Council of Resistance\u2019s representative office in Washington to introduce the newly published book \u2018The Rise of Revolutionary Guards\u2019 Financial Empire\u2019, former Spokesman of the U.S. Department of State, \u2018Ambassador Adam Ereli\u2019 said: \u201cthe book shows that 50 percent of Iran\u2019s GDP is in the hands of regime\u2019s leader and the organizations under his control, primarily the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC), which uses the government assets for financing of terrorism abroad and repression at home.\u201d<\/p>\n
Former Spokesman of the U.S. Department of State, added that \u201cthe importance of this book might be stated in three points, with the first one being that the book documents the details and the degree by which the economy is being controlled by regime\u2019s organizations, according to which 50 percent of the GDP is in the hands of regime\u2019s supreme leader and the bodies under his control, primarily the Revolutionary Guards. The second point which has been discussed, is the relation between controlling the economy by these groups and using state-owned assets for financing of terrorism abroad and repression at home. Controlling levers of economic power is a necessity for the regime in order to maintain its political power. And that\u2019s why the third important point (of the book) is raised, showing that who the regime\u2019s organizations or their so-called NGOs really are, and what structure or influence they really have, as that\u2019s the way the relation between economy and the power is formed.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cA house can hardly survive on rotten foundations\u201d, he added, \u201cthe book shows us how corrupt the Iranian regime\u2019s economic structure really is, like a wood that is rotten by water, so that it won\u2019t be able to maintain the Mullahs or their power.\u201d<\/p>\n
In response to the question \u2018why the Iranian regime\u2019s corrupt structure won\u2019t be able to hold the regime?\u2019 Adam Early said that \u201cWhy? Because their economy is strictly controlled by state banks that are financing their state-run organizations. You can\u2019t create jobs this way, or resolve issues like inflation, recession and reduced per capita income, for that matter. The Iranian regime is afflicted with an incurable disease, namely the regime\u2019s control over the economy. The book also shows that quite contrary to what\u2019s being seen from the outside, regime\u2019s basic structures are weak and unstable, being too vulnerable to unrests.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
