NCRI –\u00a0Pointing to the effect of environmental problems on increased marginalization and immigration, head of Cultural Committee of Iranian regime\u2019s parliament has stated that \u201cthe issue of environment has now turned into a social crisis.\u201d<\/p>\n
In his interview with state-run ILNA news agency on the effect of environmental problems on Iran\u2019s social issues, Salman Khodadadi said that \u201cthe environment, water, and dust storms are among the major issues and our society\u2019s future problems. We are now in a situation where the issue of environment has turned into a social crisis throughout the country, and sometimes even raises security concerns.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cSometimes people are so concerned about environmental issues that they think the government is unable to do anything about environmental problems\u201d, he added, \u201c In the case of Lake Urmia, for instance, we see how concerned people are about it. Sometimes we see salt dust covering the surface of the ground in Tabriz, in such a way that all the streets are covered with salt. This has physical and psychological consequences.\u201d<\/p>\n
Head of parliament\u2019s Cultural Committee said with concern that \u201cthe issue of environment is so sensitive that even one-day delay in dealing with it could be a threat to social issues.\u201d<\/p>\n
Khodadadi then explained that \u201cenvironmental problems give rise to immigration. If the current situation in Azerbaijan and Khuzestan continues, those who have the financial ability and are able to create jobs, development, and prosperity in these two provinces, will eventually immigrate to other cities, causing the provinces to become poorer. Afterwards, other people will also be forced to leave, leading to desolated regions on one hand and marginalization on the other. Right now about 11 to 18 million people in the country are marginalized, and marginalization is by itself the mother of all social harms.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
