NCRI –\u00a0Reports indicate the Revolutionary Guards and state police in Iran arrested 120 people at a night party in east Tehran.<\/p>\n
\u201cA number of young men and women were arrested in an operation carried out in cooperation with the public prosecutor\u2019s office,\u201d said Heydar Fattahi, the public prosecutor of Pardis on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese are considered cultural crimes. Young men and women who don\u2019t have any relations with others of the opposite sex, being in specific areas until late into the night, and disturbing the localS\u2019 peace,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
\u201cInvitations were sent out through social media,\u201d Fattahi continued, adding such \u201cnight parties\u201d are \u201ccultural attacks staged by the enemy through social media.\u201d<\/p>\n
During the past few months state police have reported to be inspecting orchards and other areas in search of such mixed-gender parties considered forbidden by the reactionary mullahs\u2019 regime.<\/p>\n
There have also been an increasing number of arrests in various provinces on charges of taking part in \u201cmixed-gender night parties.\u201d<\/p>\n
35 college students in Ghazvin, west of Tehran, were lashed last June for taking part in \u201cmissed-gender night parties.\u201d These measures were met with numerous protests and criticism in Iran, and yet the mullahs\u2019 public prosecutor, Gholam Hossein Mohseni Ejei, said this ruling was completely \u201clegal\u201d, adding \u201cevidence and documents\u201d are available showing \u201ca specific current directing\u201d such parties.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
