The MEK\u2019s Resistance Units in Iran<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI\/MEK)<\/a> has published many footages of activities of its \u201cResistance Units\u201d and\u00a0<\/span>those of defiant youth within the last\u00a0<\/span>days.\u00a0<\/span>These activities,\u00a0<\/span>amid the coronavirus outbreak and the regime\u2019s increasing oppressive measures,\u00a0<\/span>spread\u00a0<\/span>a\u00a0<\/span>message of hope and resistance among people and keep the flame of resistance ablaze.\u00a0<\/span>Their activities have very much terrified the regime\u2019s officials.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The\u00a0<\/span>MEK\u2019s Resistance Units<\/a> and supporters commemorated\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>victims of the 1988 massacre of political prisoners<\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>newly executed<\/span>\u00a0political prisoner, Mostafa Salehi, across the country by writing graffiti and posting banners.\u00a0<\/span>While paying tribute to the over 30,000 slain martyrs of\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>1988 massacres,\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>MEK\u2019s Resistance Units called for justice and the prosecution of the perpetrators of this heinous crime<\/span>, who currently hold top positions in the regime<\/span>. They also echoed\u00a0<\/span>the call by Iranian opposition President-elect\u00a0<\/span>Mrs. Maryam\u00a0Rajavi\u00a0on the international<\/span>\u00a0community to start an independent investigation\u00a0<\/span>about this massacre and end the\u00a0<\/span>impunity of the regime\u2019s officials.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In another development within the past days,\u00a0<\/span>defiant youth in several Iranian cities targeted the regime\u2019s centers of repression<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>which\u00a0<\/span>plunder the nation\u2019s resources<\/span>\u00a0and export terrorism. They also torched<\/span>\u00a0a<\/span>\u00a0number of\u00a0banners of the regime\u2019s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, and\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>mullahs\u2019 eliminated terror mastermind Qassem Soleimani<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

These actions are being done while the regime\u2019s forces are\u00a0<\/span>on\u00a0<\/span>utmost\u00a0<\/span>alert<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The spread and continuality of the Resistance Units and\u00a0<\/span>defiant youth has\u00a0<\/span>terrified the regime\u2019s officials. The Friday prayer<\/span>s<\/span>\u00a0leader of Rasht in\u00a0Gilan\u00a0province, northern Iran,\u00a0<\/span>on\u00a0<\/span>July 31 said: \u201cThe MEK is the most important enemy of the Islamic Republic.\u201d \u201c<\/span>The solution to counter the enemy’s tricks is\u00a0<\/span>to\u00a0<\/span>avoid and prevent any action that<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>agitates<\/span>\u00a0the society<\/span>.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Friday prayer<\/span>s<\/span>\u00a0imam of Natanz said: \u201c[The MEK] want to harm our social wealth such as the Supreme Leader [Ali Khamenei] and the Guardian Council, and the [MEK] are seeking public protests.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Varamin<\/span>\u2019s<\/span>\u00a0Friday prayer<\/span>s<\/span>\u00a0imam<\/span>\u00a0said: \u201c<\/span>Another thing the [MEK] does to harm the national wealth and the\u00a0<\/span>S<\/span>upreme\u00a0<\/span>L<\/span>eader is to create public unrest and distrust [toward the regime] and decrease hope and open up social wounds<\/span>.<\/span>\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Why the\u00a0mullahs\u2019 regime fears the MEK\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Along with over 40 years of struggle for\u00a0<\/span>f<\/span>reedom in Iran, the MEK\u2019s leading role, particularly the role of the Resistance Units, during the nationwide Iran protests in November 2019 has terrified the regime.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Iranian society<\/span>\u00a0is explosive.\u00a0<\/span>The Iranian regime\u2019s institutionalized corruption and misuse of national wealth for\u00a0<\/span>funding terrorism abroad, ongoing domestic oppression and now its mismanagement of the\u00a0<\/span>COVID-19 crisis, which continues to take lives across Iran, has further pushed the Iranian society\u00a0<\/span>to\u00a0<\/span>the verge of\u00a0<\/span>a\u00a0<\/span>revolution.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

T<\/span>he regime\u2019s state-run media and officials<\/span>\u00a0have been constantly\u00a0<\/span>warning about\u00a0<\/span>a possible uprising.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The state-run Ebtekar daily on Thursday wrote:\u00a0<\/span>\u201cThese hollow promises will one day frustrate the society. Then, it will find no other way but to\u00a0<\/span>rise up.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The state-run\u00a0<\/span>Keyhan<\/span>\u00a0daily, known as Khamenei\u2019s mouthpiece, while referring to\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>contradictory economic decision of the regime\u2019s president Hassan Rouhani, on Thursday wrote: \u201cAre officials thinking about the consequences of their remarks?\u00a0<\/span>Or this is also because of sanctions?\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>Many of the\u00a0<\/span>Government\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>decisions are not expert, and for this lack of expertise, we have paid heavy costs, such as\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>November\u00a0<\/span>2019 [uprising]<\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>rising fuel cost,<\/span>\u00a0which weakened the entire ruling system.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The nationwide Iran protests in November<\/a>, with\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>Resistance Units at their forefront, rattled the regime\u2019s foundation. Although\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>mullahs were able to temporar<\/span>ily quell the society by killing over 1500 people and\u00a0<\/span>carrying out\u00a0<\/span>mass arrests, they know the situation has changed and this explosive society awaits\u00a0<\/span>only\u00a0<\/span>a spark to explode.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The regime\u2019s rising oppressive measures, even its deliberate inaction in controlling the COVID-19 outbreak and using it to pacify the restive Iranian society, are only meant to prevent another major uprising.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Therefore, the<\/span>\u00a0activities of the<\/span>\u00a0MEK\u2019s Resistance Units and defiant youth\u00a0<\/span>play\u00a0<\/span>a significant role<\/span>\u00a0in keeping the flame of resistance alit and thwarting the regime from silencing the voice of protesters and their righteous demands. As a result, protests are continuing across Iran by all walks of life<\/span>, with protesters identifying the regime as the real source of all economic and social problems.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
