The Iranian regime unveiled two ballistic missiles on Thursday. These two missiles were named after Qassem Soleimani, eliminated head of the IRGC Quds Force and Abu Mehdi-al-Muhandis, an Iraqi terrorist. Meanwhile, the Iranian people are grappling with poverty and COVID-19.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The Iranian regime\u00a0<\/span>unveiled two new\u00a0<\/span>ballistic missiles<\/a> on Thursday<\/span>. This development, as the Iranian people grapple with poverty and COVID-19<\/a><\/span>\u00a0<\/a>and the region burns in\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>flames of war and terrorism, underlines the need to reimpose\u00a0<\/span>the international\u00a0<\/span>arms embargo<\/span>\u00a0on Iran\u2019s regime<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Since the coronavirus outbreak in Iran, the regime\u2019s President Hassan Rouhani and other officials have been whining about the sanctions, identifying them as the reason for the <\/span>high\u00a0<\/span>COVID-19 mortality rate<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Yet, building these two missiles and<\/span>\u00a0Rouhani\u2019s remarks on Thursday, after the two ballistic\u00a0<\/span>missiles were unveiled, shows the regime has the necessary funds to help people<\/span>\u00a0but\u00a0<\/span>gives priority to\u00a0<\/span>its malign terrorist activities over people\u2019s lives.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>Cruise missiles are of special importance to us. Today we must mobilize\u00a0<\/span>all of<\/span>\u00a0our powers to build cruise missiles.\u00a0<\/span>A<\/span>\u00a0cruise missile has many advantages and can disguise itself<\/span>, t<\/span>ake a safe route, and can hit the target more accurately<\/span>,\u201d Rouhani said on Thursday.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A glance at\u00a0<\/span><\/b>the\u00a0<\/span><\/b>current situation in Iran<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Due to the Iranian regime\u2019s institutionalized corruption<\/a> and wasting national wealth on terrorism<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0the Iranian people have been grappling with poverty<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0The regime\u2019s economy is a failing structure.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I<\/span>n this regard,\u00a0<\/span>t<\/span>he state-run\u00a0<\/span>Eghtesad<\/span>\u00a0(Economy) online, in an article entitled \u201cParadox of Iran\u2019s economy\u201d while using the words \u201cRevolution\u201d and \u201cIslam\u201d to describe the regime, wrote<\/a>: \u201cThe emergence of neoliberal behaviors and practices in the Fifth Government and their intensification under subsequent governments, especially the Eleventh and Twelfth Governments, such as encouraging materialism and self-interest, taxation (sudden emergence of private banks and financial institutions, and overproduction of productive activities) along with full freedom of speculative activities such as brokerage, speculation, expropriation (commodification of social services such as education, health, housing, public transport, energy and nature, and the transfer of large amounts of government assets to the quasi-governmental sector and quasi-private affiliates) and cheapening of labor (unemployment, the devaluation of wages through the devaluation of the national currency and insecurity and temporalization of the labor contracts) under the deceptive and false pretext of\u00a0<\/span>\u2018<\/span>free economy<\/span>\u2019<\/span>\u00a0are all in contradiction with the principles of Islam, the constitution and the values of the revolution.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This article further adds that the regime\u2019s economic<\/a> policies \u201cpromote huge illicit profits, justifying macroeconomic destabilization and price shocks under the pretext of price liberalization.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition, the state-run Arman daily, while rejecting<\/span>\u00a0recent<\/span>\u00a0claims by Rouhani about upcoming economic relief<\/a>, wrote: \u201cThere wouldn\u2019t be an economic relief. An economic relief does not happen with just one event. We must deal with it wisely and with prudence and awareness. Iran\u2019s economy cannot have an economic opening without basic operations, measures, and making tough decisions.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The two major Iran protests in 2018 and November 2019<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>were\u00a0<\/span>due to the current economic hardship\u00a0<\/span>that\u00a0<\/span>people<\/span>\u00a0have been<\/span>\u00a0endur<\/span>ing<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>In 2018, when the price of egg<\/span>s<\/span>\u00a0and other basic needs increased<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0people poured on<\/span>to the<\/span>\u00a0street<\/span>s<\/span>, and in 2019, protests erupted following\u00a0<\/span>a<\/span>\u00a0sudden gas price hike.\u00a0<\/span>But<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>both<\/span>\u00a0uprising<\/span>s<\/span>\u00a0quickly turned political with people identifying the regime\u00a0<\/span>and its warmongering policies\u00a0<\/span>as the real\u00a0<\/span>cause<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>of\u00a0<\/span>the<\/span>\u00a0extreme\u00a0<\/span>poverty in Iran. People chanted slogans such as \u201cLet go of Syria, think of us,\u201d \u201cNo\u00a0<\/span>to\u00a0<\/span>Gaza, no<\/span>\u00a0to<\/span>\u00a0Lebanon<\/a>, my life for Iran,\u201d and \u201c<\/span>D<\/span>eath to\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>dictator.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

COVID-19\u00a0<\/span><\/b>crisis\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran<\/span><\/a>\u00a0(PMOI\/MEK)\u00a0<\/span>announced\u00a0<\/span>on\u00a0<\/span>Thursday that the novel coronavirus has taken\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>lives of over\u00a0<\/span>91,700 people.\u00a0<\/span>This is primarily due to the regime\u2019s deliberate cover-up and inaction.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
