U.S. State Department Releases Names of Dr. Kazem Rajavi\u2019s Assassins<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The United States State Department <\/span>released<\/span><\/a> the names of 13 individuals it had <\/span>designated<\/span><\/a> on August 21 for their role in assassinating Dr. <\/span>Kazem Rajavi<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>a leading human rights figure and the representative of the <\/span>National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI)<\/span><\/a> in Switzerland.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>On August 21, the U.S. Department of State announced visa restrictions on 14 Iranian individuals for their involvement in gross violations of human rights on behalf of the Iranian regime, the world\u2019s leading state sponsor of terrorism.<\/span> This action was taken pursuant to Section 7031(c) of the Department of State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs Appropriations Act, FY 2020, making ineligible for entry into the United States officials of foreign governments and their immediate family members about whom the Secretary of State has credible information of involvement in a gross violation of human rights.\u00a0 This action includes visa restrictions on 13 officials involved in a brutal and intricately planned assassination carried out in Switzerland in 1990 as part of Iran\u2019s ongoing worldwide campaign of violence and terrorism.\u00a0 These 13 individuals, who posed as Iranian diplomats, were acting under the highest orders of their government to silence opposition and show that no one is safe from the Iranian regime, no matter where they live<\/span>,\u201d read the State Department\u2019s statement.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It announced t<\/span>he names of these terrorists as follows:\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ali Reza Bayani Hamadani<\/span>,<\/span> Said Danesh<\/span>,<\/span> Ali Hadavi<\/span>,<\/span> Saeed Hemati<\/span>,<\/span> Mohammad Reza Jazayeri<\/span>,<\/span> Moh<\/span>s<\/span>en Sharif Esfahani<\/span>,<\/span> Ali Moslehiaraghi<\/span>,<\/span> Naser Pourmirzai<\/span>,<\/span> Mohsen Pourshafiee<\/span>,<\/span> Mohammad Said Rezvani<\/span>,<\/span> Mahmoud Sajadian<\/span>,<\/span> and <\/span>Yadollah Samadi<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On August 21, <\/span>Mrs. Maryam Rajavi<\/span><\/a>, the NCRI\u2019s Presiden<\/span>t-elect, welcomed the U.S. decision in designating the assassins of Prof. Rajavi<\/span> and described <\/span>it <\/span>as an \u201c<\/span>essential and effective step to combat terrorism and to safeguard the security of European countries<\/span>.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Background<\/strong>:\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

T<\/span>he Iranian Resistance, as the only viable alternative to the mullahs\u2019 regime, has been the target of the regime\u2019s terrorist plots. The <\/span>failed bombing plot <\/span>against <\/span>the NCRI\u2019s annual \u201cFree Iran\u201d gathering, and the subsequent arrest of the regime\u2019s diplomat terrorist <\/span>Assadollah<\/span> Assadi<\/span> in 2018, and the regime\u2019s ongoing disinformation campaign<\/span>, <\/span>further show the regime\u2019s utter fear of its organized opposition<\/span>, the NCRI and the People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI\/MEK).\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Dr.<\/span> Rajavi\u2019s assassination case <\/span>is one the strongest cases of the regime\u2019s terrorism abroad<\/span>, b<\/span>ecause the operatives, <\/span>their commanders and those who made this decision in Tehran were identified. In addition, the motive behind this assassination is clear, the da<\/span>te<\/span> of entry and departure of the terrorists was clear<\/span>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In 2006, an investigating magistrate in Switzerland issued an arrest warrant for Ali Falahian, then the regime\u2019s Minister of Intelligence and Security (MOIS), for \u201ccarefully planning\u201d the assassination of Dr. Rajavi. In addition, it was revealed that 13 terrorists, who had diplomatic passports, were able to go back to Iran, without being tried for their crime.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This designation, years after the Iranian Resistance<\/span>\u2019s<\/span> endeavors to mobilize the international community <\/span>to stand against the regime\u2019s terrorism abroad and human rights violations in Iran, is the first step to hold all the regime\u2019s officials to account for their ongoing human rights violations.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In this regard, <\/span>Dr. Rajavi\u2019s assassination case, as <\/span>some<\/span>one who was seeking justice for the victims of the 1988 massacre of over 30,000 political prisoners in Iran, mostly members of the MEK, <\/span>is indeed considered as part of the case of the regime\u2019s crime against humanity in 1988. Therefore<\/span>, holding the regime\u2019s authorities to account for this crime is the beginning of serving justice for all the victims of the clerical regime<\/span> and stopping the regime\u2019s terrorism abroad.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
