Family members<\/a> over 30,000 Iranian political prisoners massacred in 1988<\/a> gathered in\u00a0<\/span>Khavaran<\/span>, near Tehran\u00a0<\/span>on Friday<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>at the site of\u00a0<\/span>one of\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>mass graves\u00a0<\/span>identified<\/span>\u00a0to<\/span>\u00a0commemorate their\u00a0<\/span>loved ones.<\/span> 32 years after this massacre, this crime <\/span>remains\u00a0<\/span>unpunished<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0and family members of\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>victims\u00a0demand justice.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In the summer of 1988<\/a>, the Iranian regime<\/span> massacred more than 30,000 political prisoners, mostly members, and supporters of the People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI\/MEK)<\/a><\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0Many international\u00a0<\/span>human\u00a0<\/span>rights groups such as Amnesty International have described this crime as a \u201ccrime against humanity.\u201d <\/span>S<\/span>ome experts such as\u00a0<\/span>Geoffrey<\/span>\u00a0Robertson QC<\/span><\/a>, a\u00a0<\/span>well-known<\/span>\u00a0human rights lawyer, described the 1988 massacre as the worst crime against humanity\u00a0<\/span>against political prisoners\u00a0<\/span>since World War <\/span>II<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
