While the Iranian regime tries to blame sanctions as the only reason for the country\u2019s failing economy, the regime\u2019s officials and state-run media<\/span>, during their infightings,<\/span>\u00a0identify\u00a0<\/span>the institutionalized corruption and the regime\u2019s failed\u00a0<\/span>economic structure<\/span><\/a>\u00a0as the only reason for the freefall of Iran\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>economy.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In an article published on August 27, the state-run\u00a0<\/span>Mardomsalari<\/span>\u00a0daily\u00a0<\/span>wrote<\/span><\/a>:\u00a0<\/span>\u201cToday we have\u00a0<\/span>a<\/span>n<\/span>\u00a0extremely failed and fallen economy<\/span>. The main reason is the\u00a0<\/span>currency<\/span><\/a>\u00a0shock<\/span>\u00a0and the<\/span>\u00a0plundering<\/span>\u00a0of the<\/span>\u00a0economy by semi-private companies and banks.\u00a0<\/span>Sanctions have become an excuse for some people to plunder the country.\u00a0<\/span>We suffer from both foreign and domestic sanctions and those who profit from this situation.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

By the direct order of the regime\u2019s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei,\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>Revolutionary Guards (IRGC)<\/span><\/a>, under the pretext of\u00a0<\/span>privatization<\/span><\/a>, ha<\/span>ve for years<\/span>\u00a0confiscated\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>majority of<\/span>\u00a0the\u00a0<\/span>Iranian companies<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0in this regard, the regime\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>president<\/span> Hassan Rouhani, during the regime\u2019s infighting on June 22, 2017,\u00a0<\/span>said<\/span><\/a>:\u00a0<\/span>\u201cIn the [Ahmadinejad] government portions of the country\u2019s economy\u00a0<\/span>was<\/span> placed under the control of the military and security apparatuses under the pretext of privatization,\u201d he said in reference to the IRGC. He described these entities as the \u2018armed government\u2019 and acknowledged the fact that the private sector cannot compete with them.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>A clear example of this\u00a0<\/span>so-called \u201cprivatization\u201d\u00a0<\/span>is\u202fHaft\u00a0<\/span>Tappeh<\/span>\u202fSugarcane factory<\/span><\/a>\u00a0in Khuzestan Province\u00a0<\/span>and\u00a0<\/span>Hepco<\/span>\u202fCompany<\/span>\u00a0in Arak<\/span>\u00a0– f<\/span>actories that were\u00a0<\/span>continually active<\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>successful but<\/span>\u00a0went bankrupt after the transfer of their shares.<\/span>\u00a0Now, workers of these companies are on strike for not receiving their wages for months.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
