In fact, the international community\u2019s failure to hold the mullahs to account for their crimes has emboldened the regime.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Iranian authorities committed shocking human rights violations against detainees after the November 2019 protests including beatings, floggings, electric shocks and sexual violence.<\/p>\n<p>Read more in our new report <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/aITqRiqGFt\">https:\/\/t.co\/aITqRiqGFt<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/gcfFzZuyIA\">pic.twitter.com\/gcfFzZuyIA<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Amnesty International (@amnesty) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/amnesty\/status\/1301176820965019648?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 2, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The report, which documents the Iranian regime\u2019s crimes against humanity, once again underlines the necessity to address the gross human rights violations in Iran, by holding the mullahs\u2019 regime to account for its current and past human rights abuses.<\/p>\n<p>This report highlights how the regime has been using \u201cwidespread torture including beatings, floggings, electric shocks, stress positions, mock executions, waterboarding, sexual violence, forced administration of chemical substances, and deprivation of medical care,\u201d to put pressure on thousands of protesters arrested during the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/iran-protests-2019-update\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">November 2019 uprising<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>For years, the Iranian Resistance has highlighted the absence of a f<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/human-rights\/call-to-save-the-life-of-political-prisoner-arzhang-davoodi\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">air trial system<\/a> in Iran and the regime\u2019s extrajudicial executions and imprisonment of dissidents.<\/p>\n<p>In its latest report, Amnesty International points out that hundreds have been \u201csubjected to grossly unfair trials on baseless national security charges\u201d and that death sentences have been issued \u201cbased on torture-tainted \u2018confessions.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>During the past four decades, the Iranian regime has used domestic oppression, along with the export of <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/to-end-iran-regimes-terrorism-and-oppression-hold-it-to-account-and-reimpose-all-sanctions\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">terrorism<\/a> abroad, as the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/terrorism-a-fundamentalism\/u-s-state-department-releases-names-of-dr-kazem-rajavis-assassins\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">means<\/a> to continue its rule. The medieval regime was quickly rejected by the Iranian people after the anti-monarchic revolution in 1979, which was hijacked by the mullahs.<\/p>\n<p>The primary victim of the regime\u2019s human rights violations, starting from 1980, were the members and supporters of the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/english.mojahedin.org\/about-iranian-opposition-pmoi-mek\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI\/MEK)<\/a>. Dozens of the MEK\u2019s supporters were killed and thousands were arrested and tortured prior to the MEK\u2019s large gathering of nearly half-a-million people in Tehran in 1981, which marked the beginning of the national resistance movement for overthrowing the mullahs\u2019 regime. The regime\u2019s <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/ncri-statements\/irgc-s-38-year-record-war-crackdown-exporting-terrorism-fundamentalist-and-advancing-the-nuclear-weapons-drive\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Revolutionary Guards (IRGC)<\/a> opened fire on innocent protesters on June 20, 1981, just like their killing of <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/ncri-statements\/iran-protests\/27081-over-1-500-killed-in-the-iranian-people-s-nationwide-uprising-names-of-504-martyrs-released\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">1500 protesters<\/a> during the nationwide <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/ncri-statements\/statement-human-rights\/criminal-sentences-of-imprisonment-and-flogging-for-eight-protesters-including-a-13-year-old-child\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Iran protests<\/a> in November 2019.<\/p>\n<p>The regime\u2019s crimes and atrocities against the MEK reached their height in the summer of 1988, when over<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/human-rights\/20932-the-1988-massacre-in-iran\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> 30,000 political prisoners<\/a>, mostly members, and supporters of the MEK were executed. The international community has failed to hold the perpetrators of this massacre to account, many of whom now have high positions in the regime. They include Ebrahim Raisi, head of the regime\u2019s Judiciary, and Alireza Avaei, the current Minister of Justice.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, the Iranian regime has used its impunity over the 1988 massacre as a license to continue its killing spree.<\/p>\n<p>In this regard, in her message to the participants at a<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/human-rights\/dc-photo-exhibition-iranian-exiles-condemn-iran-regimes-ongoing-human-rights-violations\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> recent exhibition<\/a> of 120,000 martyrs for Iran\u2019s freedom held in Washington D.C.,<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/maryam-rajavi\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Mrs. Maryam Rajavi<\/a>, the President-elect of the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/about-ncri\/alternative\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI)<\/a>, said: \u201cIn the past 32 years, the Iranian Resistance has persistently called for the masterminds and perpetrators of this great crime against humanity to be held accountable.\u201d She continued: \u201cThe savage execution of\u202fMostafa Salehi\u202fand the Judiciary\u2019s ruthless decrees for the\u202fexecution\u202fof detained protesters indicate the desperation of a regime on its last legs.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Holding this exhibition is particularly inspiring and effective on the 32nd anniversary of the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/1988Massacre?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#1988Massacre<\/a> of 30,000 political prisoners in <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Iran?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Iran<\/a>, one of the most horrific cases committed by the clerical regime on Khomeini\u2019s fatwa.<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/b6Zng3YbxI\">https:\/\/t.co\/b6Zng3YbxI<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/pkCaSQ0ifa\">pic.twitter.com\/pkCaSQ0ifa<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Maryam Rajavi (@Maryam_Rajavi) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Maryam_Rajavi\/status\/1301932292391264257?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 4, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>While referring to<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/human-rights\/imprisoned-brothers-story-reflects-growth-of-violent-repression-throughout-iran\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Navid Afkari<\/a>, who has been sentenced to two executions, Mrs. Rajavi said: \u201cThe criminal verdicts for Navid Afkari, a young wrestler, and his two brothers, and for other prisoners who are among the country\u2019s most enlightened youths attest to the regime\u2019s panic and fragility.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The current situation of the Iranian prisoners and the regime\u2019s ongoing human rights abuses underline the need for the international community to hold the regime to account for its crimes.<\/p>\n<p>As <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.maryam-rajavi.com\/en\/item\/maryam-rajavi-1988-massacre-iran-washington-d-c-today\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mrs. Rajavi said<\/a>: \u201cThe clerical regime\u2019s leaders must also be held accountable and punished for their crimes.
