Navid\u2019s execution has been widely condemned by politicians with different political tendencies, human rights groups, and international sport organizations. He was executed yesterday by the Iranian regime. The news is devastating and the entire wrestling community mourns his death,\u201d read the statement.<\/p>\n<p>The International Olympic Committee in a statement while condemning Navid Afkari\u2019s execution said that his execution has shocked this committee.<\/p>\n<p>Amnesty International released a <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amnesty.org\/en\/latest\/news\/2020\/09\/iran-secret-execution-of-wrestler-navid-afkari-a-travesty-of-justice\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">statement<\/a> in this regard. \u201cThe secret execution this morning of wrestling champion Navid Afkari, without prior notice to him, his family or lawyer, after a grossly unfair trial, is a horrifying travesty of justice that needs immediate international action. Before his secret execution Navid Afkari, 27, was subjected to a shocking catalogue of human rights violations and crimes, including enforced disappearance; torture and other ill-treatment, leading to forced \u201cconfessions\u201d; and denial of access to a lawyer and other fair trial guarantees,\u201d read Amnesty\u2019s statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis young man desperately sought help in court to receive a fair trial and prove his innocence.
