Navid was subjected to vicious tortures to make false confessions.<\/p>\n<p>According to Iran HRM\u2019s monthly report, August 2020 \u201cwas marked by increased pressure on political prisoners and the imposition of harsh sentences such as executions, floggings, and long prison terms for protesters.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis escalation of repression has been seen as a crisis in the human rights situation in Iran and an attempt by the ruling regime to silence any dissenting voice,\u201d read the report.<\/p>\n<p>Iran HRM\u2019s monthly report, as well as the recent report by Amnesty International, highlight the need for the United Nations Security Council, the UN Secretary-General, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and the UN Human Rights Council, as well as other human rights organizations and bodies to take immediate action to overturn the death sentences and save the lives of the prisoners.<\/p>\n<p>As Iranian opposition president-elect Mrs. <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/maryam-rajavi\/14237-maryam-rajavi\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Maryam Rajavi<\/a> has many times reiterated, the international community should immediately dispatch an international fact-finding delegation to Iran to visit Iranian prisons and prisoners, especially political prisoners.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The UN Security Council, Secretary General, High Commissioner for <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/HumanRights?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#HumanRights<\/a>, Human Rights Council need to take urgent action to  <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/StopExecutionsInIran?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#StopExecutionsInIran<\/a> and save the prisoners. They must send fact-finding delegations to visit <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Iran?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Iran<\/a> prisons and prisoners.<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/kAGGo82z9L\">https:\/\/t.co\/kAGGo82z9L<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Maryam Rajavi (@Maryam_Rajavi) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Maryam_Rajavi\/status\/1292919536073809921?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 10, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>\u201cCurrently, at least 20 political and ideological prisoners are sentenced to death in the regime\u2019s prisons, 10 of whom are among the protesters of the December 2017, July 2018, and <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/iran-protests-2019-update\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">November 2019 uprisings<\/a>,\u201d read the report.<\/p>\n<p>While referring to the regime\u2019s deliberate inaction in the face of the COVID-19 outbreak in Iran, particularly in prisons, Iran HRM wrote: \u201cAt the same time, the Iranian regime is deliberately barring prisoners from accessing medical treatment and services. On the other hand, the Iranian regime endangers the security and health of these prisoners by imprisoning political prisoners alongside ordinary and dangerous criminals, and by not observing the principle of segregation of crimes. In August, on several occasions, political and ideological prisoners were attacked and threatened by mercenaries.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe crackdown on journalists continued this month. In this regard, activists in the state-run media were summoned or sentenced following the insertion of parts of the reality of the people\u2019s problems. Violations of the rights of ethnic and religious minorities in Iran, including Christians and Baha\u2019is, continued in August.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/stats.sender.net\/forms\/dGYVLa\/view\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Weekly-Signe-up-logo-e1598946307486\" class=\"size-full wp-image-219239 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Weekly-Signe-up-logo-e1598946307486.png\" alt=\"Weekly-Signe-up-logo-e1598946307486\" width=\"300\" height=\"100\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The repression of women under the pretext of mandatory veil also continued in the form of summer repression schemes on beaches, promenades, and public places,\u201d read the report referring to the Iranian regime\u2019s systematic human rights violations that target all walks of life, religious and ethnic minorities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis report covers only part of the reality of gross human rights violations in Iran. Naturally, the real dimensions of repression and censorship are much broader. Iran Human Rights Monitor calls for the immediate abolition of executions in Iran, especially the execution of political prisoners and detained protesters. It is mentioned in the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, Article 6, \u201cEvery human being has the inherent right to life. This right shall be protected by law.
