\"Iran_Protests-_20_November_2019\"Last week, the Iranian regime held its sham\u00a0<\/span>parliamentary\u00a0<\/span>by-<\/span>election. Like the original one<\/a> in February, the\u00a0<\/span>by-e<\/span>lection, with an unprecedented public boycott, showed\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>mullahs’ deadlock and desperation.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In this regard, the state-run\u00a0<\/span>Mardom<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Salari<\/span>\u00a0daily on Wednesday wrote: “We must be realistic to prevent social disintegration. The turnout in the\u00a0<\/span>by-<\/span>election shows that there are fixed procedures beyond the executive and the legislative\u00a0<\/span>power,<\/span>\u00a0and that parliament does not and will not have the ability to change the situation. The result of the spread of this belief among the people was the meager turnout in last Friday’s\u00a0<\/span>by-<\/span>election.<\/span>\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The state-run Arman daily wrote on Wednesday: “Only two percent of the eligible voter in Karaj [near Tehran] participated in the\u00a0<\/span>by-<\/span>election.”\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Referring to the regime’s failed sham parliamentary elections in February and people’s boycott Arman added:\u00a0<\/span>\u201c<\/span>This rate of declining participation [at the regime’s sham parliamentary elections in February] and the subsequent increasing r<\/span>ift\u00a0<\/span>between the nation and the officials is unprecedented during the last 40 years. Society’s tolerance is about to end due to many livelihood problems and a lack of civil and social freedoms, and other challenges.<\/span>\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

During both nationwide Iran protests<\/a> in 2018 and 2019, the Iranian people rejected the regime’s longtime deception of “reformism” by chanting “reformist, hardliner, the game is over.” These so-called reformists, led by the regime’s president Hassan Rouhani, have held top security posts within the regime. Rouhani’s record of executing<\/a> over 4,000 people during his tenure, killing 1500 protesters<\/a> during the November<\/span>\u00a02019<\/span>\u00a0uprising, and using his terrorist diplomat,\u00a0<\/span>Asad<\/span>o<\/span>llah<\/span><\/a>\u00a0Assadi<\/a>, to use his diplomatic cover for bombing<\/a> the opposition’s rally in 2018 describes\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>mullahs’ “moderation” and “reformism.”\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
