Twenty-one human rights groups have issued an appeal to the United Nations to launch an investigation into the 1988 massacre of political prisoners in Iran.<\/p>\n

The 1988 massacre<\/a>, which led to the execution of more than 30,000 political prisoners, primarily members of the opposition People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI or MEK)<\/a>, has never been investigated, and the perpetrators have never been brought to account.<\/p>\n
