As the Iranian people continue to\u00a0grapple\u00a0with poverty and financial hardship,\u00a0Iran’s\u00a0state-run media admit how\u00a0the\u00a0mullahs\u2019 corruption and plundering of\u00a0the\u00a0national wealth for funding terrorism has crippled\u00a0the\u00a0country\u2019s economy. In this regard, the state-run\u00a0Etemad\u00a0daily on Sunday wrote:\u00a0\u201cThe poverty line for a family of\u00a0four\u00a0is 10 million tomans.\u00a0In recent years, all walks of\u00a0life, especially\u00a0the workers of our country have been affected by the most severe economic pressures such as rampant inflation, declining income, declining purchasing power, and increasing poverty.\u00a0Now, with the increase of the dollar rate to 280,000 rials [ 290,000\u00a0rials as of September 29], difficult conditions have prevailed over the livelihood of the salary earners. A comparison of the 10 million\u00a0toman poverty line with the 2.8 million\u00a0toman minimum wage shows the absolute poverty of the working population and wage earners, who make up 60% of Iranian society. This is while the cost of living in metropolitan cities is estimated at 9 million and in small cities\u00a0at\u00a0more than 7 million tomans.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u00a0But what is the Iranian economy\u2019s problem?\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The s<\/span>tate-run\u00a0<\/span>Bartarin<\/span>-ha on<\/span>\u00a0April 16\u00a0<\/span>wrote<\/span><\/a>: \u201c<\/span>$<\/span>4.8 billion dollars of governmental currency\u00a0<\/span>has vanished into the air.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The state-run Aftab daily in an\u00a0<\/span>article<\/span><\/a>\u00a0on\u00a0<\/span>11 November 2019\u00a0<\/span>acknowledged that around\u00a0<\/span>$<\/span>18 billion\u00a0<\/span>ha<\/span>d<\/span>\u00a0vanished.\u00a0<\/span>\u201cThe government\u00a0<\/span>allocated<\/span>\u00a0most of this\u00a0<\/span>$<\/span>18 billion<\/span>\u00a0worth of currency<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>to some\u00a0<\/span>individuals.\u00a0<\/span>They sold the received currency in the open market without importing goods and made huge profits.<\/span>\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The state-run\u00a0<\/span>Tabnak<\/span>\u00a0news agency on\u00a0<\/span>July 14, while quoting\u00a0<\/span>Abdolnaser<\/span>\u00a0Hemati, the regime Central Bank<\/span>\u00a0chief,\u00a0<\/span>wrote:\u00a0<\/span>\u201c<\/span>In the last two years, $27 billion in foreign exchange has been provided to exporters, and we have not imported goods and currency in return for that.<\/span>\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
