During the past week, numerous Western and Arab media outlets covered the Iranian Resistance\u2019s activities in its quest for regime change and establishment of democracy in Iran.<\/p>\n

These media coverages were over the activities of the Iranian Resistance Units<\/a>, an internal network of the People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI\/MEK)<\/a>, and the recent transatlantic conference by the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI)<\/a>, as well as the NCRI\u2019s other events. Some of these media outlets also published articles either by the Iranian Resistance or in support of its quest for regime change.<\/p>\n

Colonel Wesley Martin on TownHall: Iran\u2019s Diplomatic Saga<\/h3>\n

In an article on TownHall, Colonel (Retired) Wes Martin the first Senior Antiterrorism Officer for all Coalition Forces in Iraq, referred to the regime\u2019s foiled bombing plot of the NCRI\u2019s annual Free Iran gathering<\/a> in 2018 in Paris, which led to the arrest of the regime\u2019s so-called diplomat Assadollah Assadi<\/a>. Assadi\u2019s trial is set to be held in Belgium on November 17, 2020.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor decades, the Iranian government has avoided judicial accountability as the No. 1 nation-state sponsor of international terrorism. This will end on November 27, 2020, in Antwerp, when Belgium\u2019s criminal court commences proceedings against senior Iranian diplomat, Assadollah Assadi. In June 2018, as third secretary in the Iranian Embassy in Vienna, Assadi delivered over half a kilo of Triacetone Triperoxide (TATP) to Iranian sleeper agents in Luxembourg. TATP is a high explosive used in bombs, suicide attacks, and improvised explosive devices,\u201d read Col. Martin\u2019s article.<\/p>\n

Ms. Masumeh Bolourchi, NCRI\u2019s representative in Germany, published an article on Al-Arabiya English website on September 29, regarding the 1988 massacre<\/a> of 30,000 political prisoners.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is time for the UN General Assembly to act on its resolution condemning the 1988 massacre of political prisoners by dispatching a fact-finding mission to Iran to investigate the crimes against humanity being committed in prisons in Iran. This is a request by the people of Iranian and freedom fighters across the world,\u201d read the article.<\/p>\n

On Saturday 12 September, 27-year-old Navid Afkari<\/a>, an Iranian wrestling champion who was arrested during the August 2018 protests, was killed by the Iranian regime in prison. In trumped up charges and with no evidence against him, they tortured Navid to force a confession<\/a>. He shouted in court that he had been tortured and asked for any evidence against him, but they had none. Despite a mass online campaign led by Iranians themselves, which attracted support from the sporting world, world leaders and human rights organisations standing together to try to stop his execution, they killed him and forced his family to bury him in silence. He was denied due process, a fair trial and according to recent reports, severely tortured before his execution, writes Amir Seifi.<\/p>\n

American officials this week announced that a full range of UN sanctions had returned on Iran, including a permanent extension of the arms embargo. Some observers debate the efficacy of these measures, particularly as the European powers have signaled that they will not enforce them. But the efficacy argument serves as secondary to a much more significant dimension of Washington’s resolve: Holding Tehran accountable for its current and future transgressions.<\/p>\n

Tehran\u2019s terrorist activity has also escalated and, if left unchecked, such behavior could simply spiral out of control. In 2018, a senior Iranian diplomat<\/a> stationed in Vienna was caught red-handed by European authorities hand-delivering an explosive device to a terrorist sleeper cell as part of a plot to bomb a rally organized by the Iranian opposition group the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI)<\/a> in Paris. At the gathering were hundreds of international personalities, including the NCRI\u2019s President-elect Maryam Rajavi<\/a>.<\/p>\n
