Based on reliable reports from sources inside the Iranian regime, the mullahs’ Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) has prohibited all presidential ‘election’ candidates from making any references to the 1988 massacre of political prisoners during the debates and campaigns in the run up to the sham election, based on the guideline stipulated by the regime\u2019s supreme leader, Ali Khamenei. The SNSC has emphasized that those executions have taken place based on Khomeini\u2019s fatwa and making any reference to them will harm the Velayat-e-Faqih (supreme clerical rule) system and will arouse problematic issues for public opinion.<\/p>\n
Based on this guideline, which was issued prior to the presidential debates, any issues that would undermine \u201cKhomeini, Khamenei, the Islamic Revolution and the system’s principal policies\u201d should not be mentioned during the debates and campaigns in the run up to the ‘election’. This clearly prohibits any references to repressive measures, mass executions, warmongering and terrorist activities by the regime in the region.<\/p>\n
The SNSC\u2019s guideline on the massacre of political prisoners shows the regime\u2019s fear of the justice-seeking movement over the 1988 massacre in Iran, which has become a public demand and a key question, particularly for the youth. This is especially so since all of the regime\u2019s presidential candidates have a long history of involvement in repression, executions and mass murders.<\/p>\n
Ebrahim Raisi was one of the four members of the \u201cDeath Committee\u201d that Khomeini set up for the massacre of 30,000 political prisoners in 1988. Both prior to and after the 1988 massacre, the criminal mullah Raisi had issued death sentences for thousands of political prisoners. A number of the Cabinet members and close associates of the regime’s current President Hassan Rouhani were also among the perpetrators of the 1988 massacre. Mostafa Pour-Mohammadi, Rouhani\u2019s Justice Minister, was a member of the \u201cDeath Committee\u201d. In addition, according to Rouhani\u2019s own testimony, he has been involved in all key decision-making processes of the clerical regime during the past 38 years. His role in executions and suppression of social movements and in the clampdown on women under the pretext of \u201cimproper veiling\u201d are part of his sinister record.<\/p>\n
