These protests are mainly due to Iran\u2019s economic problems and their subsequent pressure on the society.<\/p>\n<p>Yet, this week started with <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/iran-protests\/protests-following-death-of-renowned-iranian-singer-mohammad-reza-shajarian\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">large protests<\/a> following the passing of Mr. Mohammad Reza Shajarian, a renowned master of Persian traditional music. Mr. Shajarian passed away on Thursday, October 8, after a long battle with cancer. His support for the Iranian people and defiance of the mullahs\u2019 regime, coupled with his great artistic works, had made him a popular and much beloved figure among people.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, the mullahs\u2019 regime had banned him from holding concerts and deprived people from hearing his voice from the state television.<\/p>\n<p>A large crowd gathered outside of Jam hospital in Tehran, Iranian capital, mourning Shajarian\u2019s death and chanting slogans against the regime and its state television. Videos from Iran show protesters chanting slogans such as \u201cDeath to dictator\u201d and \u201cThe state television and radio is a disgrace.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">October 8 &#8211; Tehran, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Iran?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Iran<\/a><br \/>People gathering in memory of legendary Iranian artist Mohammad Reza Shajarian launch anti-regime protests.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;State media is a disgrace!&quot;<br \/>&quot;Down with the dictator!&quot;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/IranProtests?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#IranProtests<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/GB7QfCCYpI\">pic.twitter.com\/GB7QfCCYpI<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; People&#39;s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI\/MEK) (@Mojahedineng) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Mojahedineng\/status\/1314283334164336640?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 8, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<h3>Protests by other sectors of society<\/h3>\n<p>Reports gathered by the People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/pmoi-mek\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(PMOI\/MEK)<\/a> indicate protests by all walks of life within the past seven days. These protests are mainly due to the economic hardships. Like many other vital resources of Iran, HEPCO has fallen victim to the regime\u2019s plundering, institutionalized corruption, and mismanagement. HEPCO, once a symbol of Iran\u2019s industrial flourishment, due to the decades of mismanagement has now turned into a bankrupt industrial complex.<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, a group of contract workers from the Sistan Plain Irrigation Project gathered in front of the Agricultural Jihad building in the city of Zabol, southeast Iran, protesting their eight-month-delayed paychecks. They also condemned the negligence of the Tehran General Department of Welfare in resolving their problems.<\/p>\n<p>According to one of the protesters over 70 female contract workers of this orphanages have not received their paychecks for more than six months, and the relevant authorities have ignored their demands.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/stats.sender.net\/forms\/dGYVLa\/view\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Weekly-Signe-up-logo-1\" class=\"size-full wp-image-219239 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Weekly-Signe-up-logo-1.png\" alt=\"Weekly-Signe-up-logo-1\" width=\"250\" height=\"83\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Iran regime\u2019s fear of a possible uprising<\/h3>\n<p>The authorities and state media have been warning of another round of the major Iran protests due to the economic grievances.<\/p>\n<p>In this regard, Mohsen Hashemi, head of Tehran\u2019s City Council, warned about the increasing rift between social classes and the subsequent rising feelings of hatred in society. \u201cIn today&#8217;s society, we are witnessing a deepening gap and a growing sense of hatred and separation between different cultural, political and ethnic tastes and approaches. Some of these challenges stem from factional practices and tastes in official responsibilities. Unfortunately, cultural institutions and officials sometimes deepen differences instead of trying to resolve them,\u201d Hashemi <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hamdelidaily.ir\/?post=10386\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">told<\/a> the state-run Hamdeli daily on Wednesday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Reports from Iran indicate there were further protests by various sectors of society within the past week.
