Assadi, the Third Secretary at the Iranian embassy in Austria,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-8992027\/Five-British-MPs-cheated-death-terror-bomb-Paris-conference.html\">was caught<\/a>\u00a0by European police handing over one pound of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetimes.co.uk\/article\/a-hellish-pizza-hut-delivery-irans-bomb-to-take-out-foes-in-paris-9067nb66k\">TATP explosives<\/a>\u00a0to two would-be bombers\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetimes.co.uk\/article\/a-hellish-pizza-hut-delivery-irans-bomb-to-take-out-foes-in-paris-9067nb66k\">to attack the annual<\/a>\u00a0Free Iran gathering hosted by the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) and attended by tens of thousands of the regime\u2019s opponents. Belgian prosecutors\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/iranian-diplomat-europe-terror-plot\">told Assadi\u2019s trial<\/a>\u00a0last month that the NCRI\u2019s President-elect\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/ncri-statements\/maryam-rajavi-remarks-on-terrorism-trial-of-iran-diplomat-assadi-and-his-accomplices-in-belgium\/\">Maryam Rajavi<\/a>\u00a0was the primary target of the terror plot. But\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-8992027\/Five-British-MPs-cheated-death-terror-bomb-Paris-conference.html\">other speakers<\/a>\u00a0included former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, US House Speaker Newt Gingrich, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, and French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner. Prosecutors asked the judges to hand\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/terrorism-a-fundamentalism\/assadis-notes-confirm-iran-regime-planned-to-bomb-opposition-rally\/\">Assadi<\/a>\u00a0the maximum 20-year sentence, pointing out that he had not been acting in a personal capacity, but\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/terrorism-a-fundamentalism\/second-day-of-trial-in-belgium-iran-regimes-terrorists-tacitly-accept-all-charges-desperately-try-to-downplay-them\/\">was following instructions<\/a> from his superiors, in other words Zarif and President Hassan Rouhani.<\/p>\n<p>Over the weekend the regime executed Ruhollah Zam, a former French resident, for ostensibly playing a role in the 2018 anti-regime protests. While both\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/francediplo\/status\/1337825163459629057\">France<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/eeas.europa.eu\/headquarters\/headquarters-homepage\/90498\/iran-statement-spokesperson-execution-mr-ruhollah-zam_en\">the EU<\/a>\u00a0condemned his execution, they had done little in the preceding months to pressure the regime to halt the sentence. Instead, they had been busy encouraging European businesses to set up shop in Iran.<\/p>\n<p>And then there\u2019s Iran\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/iran1988.org\/1988-massacre\/\">1988 massacre<\/a>. Following a fatwa by Ayatollah Khomeini, thousands of political prisoners, mainly members of the opposition People\u2019s Mojahedin (PMOI or MEK), were extra-judicially executed by Death Commissions whose members\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/StateDRL\/status\/1300132194070016000\">today hold top positions<\/a>, such as Iran\u2019s Judiciary Chief and Justice Minister. A group of seven United Nations special rapporteurs and experts\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/iran1988.org\/un-experts-echo-call-for-international-investigation-into-irans-1988-massacre\/\">last week publicly announced<\/a>\u00a0that the massacre could amount to \u201ccrimes against humanity.\u201d They signaled their support for an international investigation, adding that international inaction over the mass killings have emboldened Iran\u2019s regime to continue to conceal the fate of the victims and to maintain a strategy of deflection and denial. The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/spcommreports.ohchr.org\/TMResultsBase\/DownLoadPublicCommunicationFile?gId=25503\">UN experts\u2019 position<\/a>\u00a0was made public just two days after\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/euobserver.com\/foreign\/150312\">Borrell announced<\/a> the EU\u2019s &#8220;landmark agreement&#8221; to hold human rights abusers accountable.<\/p>\n<p>Just when it seemed the EU was about to impose sanctions on Iran\u2019s human rights abusers, EU leaders have turned on their heels and are instead encouraging business with a regime that massacres its opponents at home and uses its &#8220;diplomats&#8221; to transfer actual bombs to Europe to murder more of them abroad. Why was Borrell even thinking of speaking alongside the foreign minister of a regime that\u2019s murdering dissidents and sending bombs to Europe? Why isn\u2019t the EU pulling its diplomats from Tehran and downgrading ties to the terrorist regime?<\/p>\n<p>If there\u2019s even a shred of decency at the European External Action Service, they will join the UN experts,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DRL_AS\/status\/1337137695819108352\">US Administration<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amnesty.org\/en\/latest\/news\/2020\/12\/iran-un-calls-for-accountability-on-1988-prison-massacres-marks-turning-point-in-three-decade-struggle\/\">international human rights groups<\/a>\u00a0in supporting an international investigation into the 1988 massacre and make good on their new &#8220;Magnitsky Act&#8221;
