The\u00a0<\/span>U<\/span>.S.<\/span>\u00a0Central Command said<\/a> Wednesday that the rocket attack on Baghdad’s International Zone near the U<\/span>.S.<\/span> embassy in Iraq on December 20 was “almost certainly conducted by an Iranian-backed rogue militia group.”<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Wall Street Journal reported<\/a> on December 23 that an after-action review by the U<\/span>.S.<\/span>\u00a0Central Command indicated that the attack involved 21 rockets, not the eight\u00a0<\/span>missile<\/span>s that the Iraqis initially\u00a0<\/span>sai<\/span>d. According to CENTCOM\u00a0<\/span>spokesman<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0the 21<\/span>–<\/span>rocket attack was the largest rocket attack since 2010 on central Baghdad, also known as the Green Zone.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In the meantime,\u00a0<\/span>the U.S.\u00a0<\/span>President Donald Trump tweeted pictures of three rockets that failed to launch in that attack against the U<\/span>.S.<\/span>\u00a0Embassy. He wrote<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>“<\/span>Guess where they were from<\/span>:<\/span>\u00a0Iran<\/span>.”<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
