Mohsen\u00a0<\/span>Baharvand<\/span>, Deputy Minister of Legal and International Affairs\u00a0<\/span>to\u00a0<\/span>Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif<\/a>, on Monday,<\/span>\u00a0highlighted Zarif’s close relationship with the regime’s eliminated terror mastermind, Qassem Soleimani<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span>Baharvand’s<\/span>\u00a0comments underline there is no difference between Iran’s “chief apologist<\/span>” Zarif<\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>mullahs’ “chief terrorist<\/span>” Qassem Soleimani.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Baharvand<\/span>\u00a0published these notes the day before the anniversary of Soleimani’s death on January 2, 2020.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“I will never forget that when I went to the Political Studies Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs almost every Tuesday at 7:30 am to attend a strategic meeting on foreign relations, I saw the glorious martyr, General Haj Qassem Soleimani, who was escorted out of the meeting room by Dr. Zarif,”\u00a0<\/span>Baharvand<\/span>\u00a0wrote according<\/a> to official ILNA news agency.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Baharvand<\/span>\u00a0highlighted that Soleimani\u00a0<\/span>\u201c<\/span>regularly<\/span>\u00a0came to the study office at 6 am on Tuesdays and had a coordination meeting with Dr. Zarif<\/a> until 7:30.”\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Who Was Qassem Soleimani?\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

Qassem Soleimani was the commander of Iran’s terrorist Quds Force<\/a><\/span>, an extraterritorial arm of the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC)<\/a>. Born in 1957, Soleimani joined the IRGC during the early years of the Iran-Iraq War.\u202f<\/a><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

He quickly rose to the top of the IRGC command because of his cruelty and loyalty to the regime’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Khamenei appointed Soleimani as the Quds Force<\/span>\u00a0commander<\/span>\u00a0in 1998. The Quds Force plays a unique role in the IRGC and is tasked with orchestrating the regime’s meddling in countries of the Middle East<\/span>, from Iraq to Syria and Yemen, and as far as the African continent.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

After Saddam Hussain’s fall in Iraq, Soleimani organized the regime’s terrorist proxy groups in that country, making the regime’s foothold in Iraq stronger.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Soleimani commanded attacks on the Iranian opposition members in Camp<\/a><\/span>\u00a0Ashraf and\u00a0<\/span>Camp\u00a0<\/span>Liberty, killing over 100 members of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI\/MEK)<\/a>. Soleimani also ordered the killing of thousands of Iraqi nationals and was behind targeting over 600 American soldiers in Iraq.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Since the beginning of the Syrian\u00a0<\/span>War in 2011, the Iranian regime has been\u00a0<\/span>spending<\/span> the Iranian people’s wealth to prop-up Bashar Al-Assad’s dictatorship. Soleimani<\/a> traveled to Syria frequently. Soleimani oversaw the formation of pro-Syrian militias and the deployment\u00a0<\/span>and\u00a0<\/span>organization<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>of tens of thousands of militants in the\u00a0<\/span>form of the\u00a0<\/span>Fatemiyoun<\/span>\u00a0brigade of Afghan mercenaries,\u00a0<\/span>Zainebiyoun<\/span>\u00a0brigade of Pakistani mercenaries, and Abolfazl<\/span>\u00a0brigade of Iraqi mercenaries.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

Mahmoud al-Zahar, a senior member of Hamas’ leadership, told Al-Alam, the Arabic-language network of Iran’s state-run television, on Sunday, that during a 2006 meeting with Qassem Soleimani in Tehran<\/span>\u00a0he<\/span>\u00a0explained<\/span>\u00a0“the fundamental problem of staff and social services of\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>people of Gaza<\/span>” to Soleimani. “Haj\u00a0<\/span>Qas<\/span>se<\/span>m immediately responded to our request, so that the next day, when the trip was over, I saw $<\/span>22 million in our luggage in the airport.”<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Soleimani also played an important role in oppressing the Iranian people’s nationwide<\/a> uprisings.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“During the 1999 and 2009 seditions, Haj Qassem was on the streets to fight the anti-revolutionaries and took effective measures to contain the insecurity and riots,” Mohammad Ali Jafari, the former commander of the IRGC,\u202f<\/span>acknowledged<\/span><\/a>\u202fin February 2020.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI)<\/a> published a detailed report of the Quds Force<\/span>\u2019s<\/span>\u00a0terrorist activities led by Qassem Soleimani.\u00a0<\/span>The report is available<\/span>\u202f<\/span>here<\/span><\/a>.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

Due to his crimes, the people of Iran and other countries in the region hated Soleimani. Once he was eliminated, people in Iraq and Syria<\/span>\u00a0poured on<\/span>to<\/span>\u00a0the streets, celebrating his death.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Zarif and Soleimani<\/span>\u2019s<\/span>\u00a0relations<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

Besides his regular meetings with Soleimani<\/a> to coordinate terrorist attacks, Zarif<\/a> always tried to whitewash Soleimani’s crimes.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On Thursday, December 24, in an interview with Afghanistan’s\u00a0<\/span>Tolonews<\/span>\u00a0Television station, once questioned about the regime’s role in sending Afghan refugees to fight in Syria, Zarif tried to downplay the extent of this crime.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

When asked whether it was true that 25,000 Afghan refugees were in Syria, Zarif deceitfully said he had heard there were only 5,000<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0of whom less than 2,000 were currently in Syria.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The interviewer pressed further, asking Zarif: “You had earlier said you are an international relations expert. Where in the world have you seen (a government) recruiting refugees and sending them to a third country (to fight a proxy war)?<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Zarif: “First of all, mos<\/span>t of them were not refugees. They came from Afghanistan and went there. Perhaps, they might have gone to other places too.” The interviewer presses on:\u00a0<\/span>“So, if I want to take up arms, will you send me to Syria?”<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“We may arm you when you end up in Syria,” Zarif\u00a0<\/span>bluntly\u00a0<\/span>answered.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Zarif and his Ministry have also provided material support for the regime’s terrorists to operate outside Iran. The regime’s terrorists<\/a> in different countries use diplomatic privileges to pursue the regime’s malign goals.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

November 27<\/span>\u00a0and December\u00a0<\/span>3<\/span>\u00a0marked the trial\u00a0<\/span>in Belgium\u00a0<\/span>of Iran’s incarcerated diplomat-terrorist,\u00a0<\/span>Assadollah<\/span><\/a>\u00a0Assadi, and his three co-conspirators. Assadi and his team tried to bomb the NCRI’s annual “Free Iran” gathering in 2018\u00a0<\/span>near\u00a0<\/span>Paris.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As Assadi’s superior authority, Zarif\u00a0<\/span>not only facilitat<\/span>ed<\/span>\u00a0the operation but\u00a0<\/span>was\u00a0<\/span>also fully aware of it. When his diplomat was caught red-handed, Zarif tried to portray this terrorist operation as a “false flag operation.”\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In March 2018, the Albanian police thwarted an attack by\u00a0<\/span>Quds Force operatives against the MEK’s gathering ne<\/span>ar<\/span>\u00a0Tirana. Following the MEK’s relocation to Albania, the regime’s terrorists plotted several times against the MEK members and the NCRI’s president-elect Mrs. Maryam Rajavi.\u202f<\/a><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In December 2018, Albania expelled<\/a> the Iranian regime’s ambassador and another diplomat terrorist for their involvement in\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>terrorist\u00a0<\/span>plot\u00a0<\/span>to attack the MEK gathering in March 2018.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Final words<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

Zarif once said, “Commander Soleimani and I never felt we have any differences. We have been working together closely for over 20 years. During the U.S. attack on Iraq, as Iran’s representative in New York, I had the greatest coordination with commander Soleimani. Subsequently, when I became Minister, the two of us decided to make sure we meet at least once a week when we were both in Tehran to review the latest developments and undertake the necessary coordination.” (<\/span>S<\/span>tate-run daily\u00a0<\/span>Entekhab<\/span>\u00a0on September 1, 2019)\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Zarif\u2019<\/span>s\u00a0<\/span>words and actions<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>his\u00a0<\/span>regular meetings with Soleimani<\/span>, and\u00a0<\/span>his direct involvement in terrorism<\/span>\u00a0once again underline<\/span>\u00a0there is no difference between Zarif and Soleimani.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Zarif represents a terrorist regime that tried to plant\u00a0<\/span>a\u00a0<\/span>bomb in the heart of Europe. Zarif and Soleimani are flip sides of the same coin, elements of a terrorist regime with no regard for human\u00a0<\/span>li<\/span>fe<\/span>.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
