Gen. Morteza Talai announced the formation of a new suppressive security apparatus called &quot;Metro Police&quot;, the state-run news agency Fars reported on September 28.<\/p>\n<p>He said, &quot;The force will begin its duty when training is completed. Further technical training for this force will take place gradually over a period of time.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>From the start of the year, this has been the eighth police force which has been set up to suppress popular uprisings and demonstrations. The previous forces are as follows: District Police, Youth Police, Dormitory Police, Undercover Police, Mountain Police, Mehr Police and School Police. The purpose of these forces is to combat the volatile state of the society.
