NCRI – Iran regime\u2019s public prosecutor has informed the wife of Reza Shahbi that this labor activist must remain in jail for another 17 months, according to a statement issued by the Tehran Bus Drivers Syndicate. Shahabi has been told he will remain behind bars until January 8th, 2019.<\/p>\n
Shahabi has been condemned to another year in prison based on charges described by this syndicate as \u201cfabricated.\u201d Furthermore, the public prosecutor has said the five months he was on medical leave \u2013 with approval from the coroners \u2013 is considered absence from his prison time.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe public prosecutor\u2019s claim of five months absence from Shahabi\u2019s six year prison term\u201d is made while he has \u201cseen his release letter in his prison files indicating the end of his six year term on September 5th, 2015,\u201d according to the syndicate.<\/p>\n
Iran\u2019s judiciary officials have during the past year placed this labor activist under pressure time and again to return to prison, reports indicate.<\/p>\n
Amnesty International issued a statement on April 30th indicating Shahabi, who after enduring four years behind bars left prison on medical leave in September 2014, has been summoned to return to prison.<\/p>\n
Shahabi was arrested on June 12, 2010 and spent 19 months in solitary confinement of ward 209 in Tehran\u2019s Evin Prison. He was then sentenced by the Islamic Revolution court to six years behind bars, five years deprived of syndicate activities and paying 75 million rials in financial fee (around $2,345).<\/p>\n
\u201cShahabi is suffering from serious neck and back injuries resulting from the wounds caused by authorities during his arrest and long interrogations,\u201d according to the syndicate statement.<\/p>\n
A number of activists such as Ismaeel Abdi and Mohsen Omrani are also behind bars.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
