<\/h3>\n<\/h3>\nOn Thursday, February 4, the court in Belgium will announce its verdict about Iran\u2019s diplomat-terrorist Assadollah Assadi who attempted to bomb the opposition rally in 2018 in France.
\nA letter was written by 40 members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) to PACE\u2019s President, the Hon. Rik Daems regarding this case.
\n\u201cfor a review of policy toward Iran in all areas [and] serious and effective measures,\u201d reads the letter adding, \u201cany economic and trade relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran on the improvement of the human rights situation in Iran and an end to the regime’s terrorism on European soil.\u201d

<\/h3>\nRome, Italy, February 2 \u2013 40 members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe from all political groups, from 21 European countries, wrote a letter to PACE\u2019s President, the Hon. Rik Daems, expressing their \u201cgrave concerns on the situation of human rights in Iran,\u201d adding, \u201cFor four decades, the Iranian regime has been brutally oppressing its people and while they have been indiscriminate in stripping citizens of their every individual and social rights, women, youth and minorities have faced the most oppression.\u201d<\/p>\n
The parliamentarians also noted, \u201cThe domestic policy of repression and exporting terrorism and fundamentalism abroad have been the foundation of Iran\u2019s survival strategy for decades, with the latter having been supported by Iran\u2019s embassies in Europe.\u201d<\/p>\n
Referring to the foiled bombing plot against the Iranian opposition National Council of Resistance\u2019s (NCRI) major gathering in Villepinte, near Paris, in June 2018, the lawmakers highlighted the conclusion of the Belgian National Security Service (VSSE), which stated, \u201cThe plans for the attack were developed in the name of Iran at the request of its leadership.\u201d<\/p>\n
The signatories also denounced Tehran regime\u2019s policy of \u201cblackmail[ing] Western countries by using dual nationals as pawns in exchange for its terrorists in foreign jails.\u201d<\/p>\n
These nefarious actions, they emphasized, calls \u201cfor a review of policy toward Iran in all areas [and] serious and effective measures,\u201d that included predicating \u201cany economic and trade relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran on the improvement of the human rights situation in Iran and an end to the regime’s terrorism on European soil.\u201d<\/p>\n
In recalling the \u201cstatement by the Council of the European Union dated April 29, 1997,\u201d they stressed that \u201cagents and mercenaries of Iran’s intelligence services with diplomatic, journalistic, and economic cover should be tried, punished, and expelled, and centers with a religious or cultural cover promoting terrorism and fundamentalism should be closed,\u201d adding, \u201cGranting asylum and citizenship to MOIS agents and mercenaries should be a red line.\u201d<\/p>\n
Copies of the letter were forwarded to the Honorables Charles Michel, President of the European Council, and Josep Borrell Fontelles, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy\/Vice-President of EU Commission.<\/p>\n
