Having received a major political blow, the regime&#8217;s officials and state-run media desperately call for &#8220;retaliation,&#8221; confirming once again mullahs&#8217; state-sponsored terrorism.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">&#8220;The Europeans are politicizing the diplomat&#8217;s case. If diplomats have immunity and, unfortunately, someone who has immunity is said to have immunity in Austria but not in Belgium, he is tried in absentia,&#8221; wrote state-run Mizan news agency, an outlet affiliated with the regime&#8217;s Judiciary.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Assadi used his diplomatic passport to transfer 500 grams of explosives using a commercial flight to Austria, where he has stationed as the third secretary of Iran&#8217;s embassy. He handed the explosives over to a Belgian-Iranian couple in Luxembourg. He tasked them with bombing the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/ncri-statements\/paris-free-iran-with-hundreds-of-top-personalities-lawmakers-and-elected-representatives-from-five-continents\/\" rel=\"noopener\">&#8220;Free Iran&#8221; gathering<\/a> of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/about-ncri\/alternative\/\" rel=\"noopener\">NCRI<\/a>) in Paris on June 30, 2018.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">During Assadi&#8217;s trial in November and December 2020, the prosecutors underlined that since Assadi was arrested in Germany, Austria, where Assadi&#8217;s diplomatic mission is located, he can&#8217;t object to his arrest was arrested outside of Austria. Three accomplices, agents of the Iranian intelligence ministry were respectively sentenced to 18, 17, and 15 years in prison and were stripped of their Belgian citizenship. The judge stipulated that the bomb was manufactured in Iran and was carried to Europe in a diplomatic suitcase. They had been instructed to place the bomb as close as possible to Mrs. Maryam Rajavi. Assadi who was under police watch, delivered the bomb to one of the agents in Luxemburg and was arrested in Germany on his way back to Austria. He was then extradited to Belgium for trial. Simultaneous with the declaration of the court ruling, a virtual conference was held with participants joining in from more than 3,000 places across the world including MEK members in Ashraf, Albania. In her speech at the conference, Mrs. Rajavi said, \u201cToday\u2019s conviction of the Iranian regime\u2019s diplomat-terrorist confirms the Iranian regime\u2019s state terrorism by a European judicial authority. \u201c She made key policy recommendations to European leaders:\u201dRecall their ambassadors from Tehran and shut down the regime\u2019s embassies and centers in Europe which are used for terrorism. The Ministry of Intelligence and the Iranian Revolutionary Guards must be designated as terrorist entities. All their agents must be prosecuted and expelled from Europe. Tom Ridge former U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security said: The planned bombing was a state sponsored operation by a terrorist state that continues to operate with arrogance with impunity, with disdain for human race and common decency, basic norms with civil society, \u2026 But rhetorical condemnation without further action, will be of little impact on this rogue regime, which heretofore has been totally unwilling to change its behavior. countries whose citizens were in harm&#039;s way, in the July event should consider downgrading, seriously, considering downgrading diplomatic relationships with Iran Patrick Kennedy: \u201cIt&#039;s time to call Iran for what it is: a terrorist state. Giulio Terzi, the former foreign minister of Italy said: \u201cEurope\u2019s lack of proper action has emboldened Iran\u2019s regime in its terrorist activities, giving them the impression that they will not be held accountable.\u201d Former United States National Security Advisor James Jones underlined that \u201cwe should stand with the Iranian people and their desire for regime change by supporting the democratic alternative of the National Council of Resistance of Iran and its president-elect, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi.\u201d Stephen Harper, former Prime Minister of Canada said: \u201cThis is what the Islamic Republic in Tehran, the world&#039;s largest state sponsor of terrorism does.\u201d On the same day\u2019s evening, a virtual conference was also held in the United States by the Washington office of the NCRI. The prosecutor said and added that even according to Austrian law, Belgian authorities were entitled to arresting Assadi. Since Assadi was planning to commit mass murder, international law allowed authorities to strip Assadi of his diplomatic immunity and arrest him.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The evidence found in Assadi&#8217;s car showed he was using his diplomatic privileges to run the Iranian regime&#8217;s network of terrorism and espionage across Europe.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Based on the evidence and the chain of events, the Belgian prosecutors concluded that the 2018 foiled bombing was not Assadi&#8217;s personal initiative and was an act of state-sponsored terrorism. Assadi&#8217;s conviction and the regime&#8217;s efforts to have him released confirmed the truth that the entire regime was behind this crime.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/stats.sender.net\/forms\/dGYVLa\/view\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Weekly-Signe-up-logo-1\" class=\"size-full wp-image-219239 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Weekly-Signe-up-logo-1.png\" alt=\"Weekly-Signe-up-logo-1\" width=\"250\" height=\"83\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Underlining the regime&#8217; failure in releasing Assadi, what should the regime do, Mizan wrote: &#8220;Generally in Iran, this should be done through retaliation, which is one of the pillars of the international community and an international custom as the [regime] did in the case of South Korea&#8217;s debt. After [South Korea] refused our demand to pay its debt, we stoped the Korean ship under the pretext of polluting the Persian Gulf and the environment.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Mizan&#8217;s article once again confirms Iran&#8217;s state-sponsored terrorism. This event was canceled in December at the very last moment due to <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/ncri-statements\/statement-human-rights\/iranian-resistance-urges-un-eu-states-especially-france-to-firmly-condemn-the-execution-of-ruhollah-zam\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Ruhollah Zam&#8217;s execution<\/a>, a French resident.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">After Assadi&#8217;s conviction, and while the United Nations condemned the regime for the 67th time for human rights abuses, what message will Mr. Borrell and the EU&#8217;s &#8220;maximum diplomacy&#8221; strategy send to Iran?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Holding this business forum or continuing any relations with the Iranian regime is like giving it the green light to further spread terrorism and continue abusing human rights violations. Assadi&#8217;s case and conviction show the regime&#8217;s malign activities are not limited to Iran&#8217;s borders.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Assadi&#8217;s conviction should be a wake-up alarm to the European leaders. They should hold the regime accountable for its terrorism and human rights violations, not providing it with more incentive packages. Any financial help to the regime will result in more terrorism and human rights violations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The European Union should make all relations with the regime contingent on its absolute halt of terrorism and human rights violations.
