Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the NCRI, welcomed the today protests by pensioners in Tehran and other Iranian cities. She wrote in a Twitter message: “Hail to the deprived pensioners and retirees who have risen up. Their chants of ‘our baskets are empty, enough with oppression’ and ‘we can gain our rights only by taking to the streets’ echo the cries of all the people of Iran who are fed up with poverty and the mullahs\u2019 evil rule.”<\/p>\n

Mrs Rajavi added: “Continued protests by pensioners in Tehran and other cities across Iran reflect the resolve of the people of Iran to gain their rights.”<\/p>\n
