May 1 marks International Workers\u2019 Day or Labour Day. On this day, let us not forget the plight of Iranian workers under the mullahs\u2019 regime. Due to the regime\u2019s corruption and wrong policies, Iranian workers\u2019 life deteriorates.<\/p>\n

Workers around the globe are going through a rather hard period due to the coronavirus outbreak. Workers are under double pressure in Iran under the mullahs\u2019 regime, due to the regime\u2019s inhumane Covid-19<\/a> policy, based on cover-up and inaction.<\/p>\n

\u201cAccording to official statistics, more than two million workers, generally low-income and belonging to the lower strata of society and sometimes women heads of households, work in the informal sector of the economy without insurance,\u201d wrote the semi-official ILNA news agency on May 1.<\/p>\n

ILNA adds that \u201cUnemployment insurance and social protection do not belong\u201d to these workers, and \u201ceven if a terrible crisis like the recent Covid-19 crisis occurs, the social security system is not going to support them.\u201d According to ILNA, \u201cInsured workers are also not in a good position because they have a temporary contract.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to the regime\u2019s state-run media, workers salary is 3.5 million Tomans, or with the current exchange rate at the free market, around $151. Meanwhile, the poverty line in Iran is above 10 million Tomans. Meanwhile, the regime claims it has increased the workers\u2019 salary this year.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat makes wage increases ineffective is inflation. We believe that inflation should be curbed as wages rise,\u201d said Hassan Sadeghi, President of the so-called Trade Union Veterans Union<\/p>\n

Thus, facing the skyrocketing prices and inflation rate, workers are unable to make their ends meet. \u201cThe inflation rate continues to rise, and workers\u2019 wages do not even cover half of their living costs. So when a crisis like the Covid-19 outbreak occurs, the workers\u2019 inability to make a living becomes more pronounced than ever,\u201d ILNA news agency added.<\/p>\n
