Reports from Iran indicate that protests by all walks of life continued across Iran in recent days. According to these reports tallied by the People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran<\/a>, on May 1, simultaneous with International Workers Day, many workers across Iran held rallies, protesting their harsh living<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>conditions<\/span>\u00a0and calling for the regime\u2019s sham presidential elections boycott.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Workers rallied in Tehran and other cities, including Karaj, Arak, Mashhad, Khorramabad,\u00a0<\/span>Marivan<\/span>, Kermanshah,\u00a0<\/span>Haftepeh<\/span>, Tabriz, Sanandaj Rasht,\u00a0<\/span>Boroujerd<\/span>, Qazvin, Sari, Ilam, Isfahan, and Ahvaz.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Deprived workers were chanting: \u201cThe enemy of the workers is the corrupted government,\u201d \u201cWe will not stop until we get our rights,\u201d \u201cWe will not vote anymore, we\u2019ve heard many lies,\u201d\u00a0 \u201cOur enemy is here; they lie it is the U.S.,\u201d\u00a0 \u201cWe\u2019ve heard so many lies, but did not receive our salaries,\u201d \u201cno nation has seen his much injustice<\/a>,\u201d \u201cEnough with promises, our tables are empty,\u201d \u201cDeath to the oppressor, hail to the worker,\u201d and \u201cSocial Security shame on you.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Iranian workers\u2019 salaries are many times lower than the poverty line. They cannot make their ends meet amid the rising inflation rate, skyrocketing prices, and the coronavirus pandemic. The regime\u2019s so-called \u201cprivatization\u201d plan has caused many workers to lose their jobs. The regime\u2019s Social Security Organization does not support these workers. Those workers who have not lost their jobs receive their salaries after months of delays.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On Thursday,\u00a0<\/span>water<\/span>\u00a0and wastewater workers in\u00a0<\/span>Susengerd<\/span>\u00a0protested, demanding their 10-month delayed wages. Workers marched across the street holding placards, demanding their salaries, protesting authorities\u2019 inaction.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Protests in Iran are not limited to the workers.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On Thursday, the nurses, and medical staff of the Rouhani Hospital in Babol, Mazandaran Province, held a rally, demanding their unpaid wages<\/a> and sharp reduction of their Covid-19 bonuses.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

People of\u00a0<\/span>Maymeh<\/span>\u00a0in Isfahan, central Iran, gathered in front of the mayor\u2019s office to protest the transfer of drinking water from this city to the industrial area of Golestan province.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On Wednesday, several taxi drivers in\u00a0<\/span>Naghadeh<\/span>\u00a0gathered in front of the governor\u2019s office to seek approval for a fare increase. The decision to increase the fare rate has been pending the approval of the governor for weeks.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
