In Iran, the people daily witness the heartbreaking conditions of addicted women on the side of highways, the corner of ruins, or in destroyed slums. Iranian officials downplay the actual number of addicts to cover up their failure to contain this social phenomenon. \u201cAmong 2.8 million addicts in the country, around 156,000 persons are women, meaning six percent of the total addicted population,\u201d said Reza Tuiserkan Manesh, the director-general for treatment and social support in the anti-narcotics headquarters.<\/p>\n

Narcotic Forces Fatally Shoot Three Baluch Men in SE Iran<\/h3>\n

Three men were killed on May 2 after undercover narcotic forces opened direct fire on them in Khash, southeastern Iran. According to the Baloch Campaign website, the three men were identified as 45-year-old Hamid Gomshadzehi, 20-year-old Nazir Gomshadzehi, and 20-year-old Osman Gomshadzehi. The three unarmed men were killed in their car. Suspecting them of carrying drugs, the narcotics forces opened fire on them without warning.<\/p>\n

The number of victims in Tehran has reached 64,501, Isfahan 18,355, Khorasan Razavi 17,315, Khuzestan 17,149, Mazandaran 11,545, East Azerbaijan 11,428, West Azerbaijan 10,403, Gilan 9,671, Qom 9,335, Fars 8,782 , Alborz 7,418, Golestan 6,960, Hamedan 6,308, Kerman 6,288, Central Province 5,833, Kurdistan 4,837, North Khorasan 4,133, Ardabil 3,557, Zanjan 3,080, Ilam 2,881, and South Khorasan 2,741.
