In recent days, the state-run media acknowledged that Iran\u2019s economy<\/a> is on freefall due to the regime\u2019s wrong policies and institutionalized corruption. Although state-run media try to downplay the crisis, even their engineered facts and figures debunk claims of sanctions being the root of Iran\u2019s economic<\/a> crisis.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In an article on Monday, the state-run Vatan-e\u00a0<\/span>Emrooz<\/span>\u00a0daily admitted that the poverty line in Iran has increased by 165% from 2013 to 2019.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAccording to the Parliamentary Research Center studies, the poverty line of 4-person households in Tehran from 2013 to 2019 has increased from 1.7 million tomans to 4.5 million tomans. Thus, the poverty line increased by nearly 165 percent. Given currency fluctuations and the coronavirus situation, the poverty line is estimated to had risen again in 2020,\u201d Vatan-e\u00a0<\/span>Emrooz<\/span>\u00a0wrote.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

According to Vatan-e\u00a0<\/span>Emrooz<\/span>, \u201cAbsolute poverty can be defined as the inability to achieve the minimum standard of living, and in fact, absolute poverty is the lack of access to subsistence standards in society. This is due to the difference in the cost of living in different regions.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Vatan-e\u00a0<\/span>Emrooz<\/span>\u00a0added that \u201cPer capita income in Iran has fallen sharply in the last eight years. The record for the highest per capita income in the country is related to 2011 when the share of each Iranian in the GDP was 7 million and 370 thousand tomans. Then, we saw a decline in per capita income, so that the estimates of the Parliamentary Research Center show that in 2019 this income has fallen to the lowest level and has reached 4 million and 870 thousand tomans.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the semi-official ILNA News Agency, \u201c19 million people are slum-dwellers in Iran, and live in the worst conditions, without sanitation.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The state-run Jahan-e Sanat daily on Monday quoted Abbas Akhundi, the regime\u2019s former Minister of Urban Development, admitting that \u201cthe continuous and rising inflation level for the past 50 years has trapped people in poverty and burns them to the core.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Regime\u2019s corruption roots to Iran\u2019s economic crisis<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

Iran is among the wealthiest countries in the world. Yet, Iranians are suffering from poverty, inflation, and skyrocketing prices.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

While Iranians are grappling with poverty, every day, another corruption of regime\u00a0<\/span>officials<\/span>\u00a0is revealed amid the mullahs\u2019 factional feuds.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe publication of the Former Central Bank Chief, Waliullah Seif\u2019s indictment shows mismanagement has hurt the country\u2019s economy more than sanctions,\u201d wrote the state-run Jam-e Jam daily on Monday.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

According to Seif\u2019s indictment, he has wasted or rather\u00a0<\/span>embezzled\u00a0 $<\/span>30 billion and 60 tons of gold reserves. Yet, Jam-e Jam underlines that Seif was not acting alone, and this case of corruption involves the regime\u2019s top-officials such as\u00a0<\/span>president<\/span>\u00a0Hassan Rouhani.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe foreign exchange policy in the country goes directly to the President and the Central Bank Chief, and if there is any disruption in this regard, according to experts, these two people should be held accountable. Issues such as determining bank interest rates and large cases of currency microeconomics are done with\u00a0<\/span>the coordination of the President and by order of the Central Bank\u2019s chief,\u201d Jam-e Jam article reads in this regard.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In another example, the state-run\u00a0<\/span>Mostaghel<\/span>\u00a0daily on Monday admitted how the candidates of the regime\u2019s sham presidential elections<\/a> spend billions of tomans for their campaigns while people are suffering from poverty.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIn a situation where people are facing economic problems, how do some presidential candidates spend hundreds of billions of tomans on advertising? What are the factors that have caused a presidential candidate in Iran to reach hundreds of billions of tomans of wealth and spend it on his campaign?\u201d\u00a0<\/span>Mostaghel<\/span>\u00a0wrote.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Mostaghel<\/span>\u00a0admits that \u201cIn recent months in our country, we have seen students drop out of school for not having a mobile phone to attend an online classroom. Poverty has brought the knife to the bone of some families. Some poor students committed suicide.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As the state-run media admitted, Iranians are under heavy pressure of poverty, and they witness the regime\u2019s corruption. Therefore, the public hatred toward the regime has increased, and the ongoing protests in Iran are testaments to this fact.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Thus, state-run media warn regime officials of people\u2019s backlash as the regime’s sham presidential elections<\/a> draw closer.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe [sham] presidential election is considered a referendum from a perspective. Therefore, participation or non-participation in it must be with the understanding and acceptance of this presupposition. Let us be vigilant and think of a solution; Since today, the sharp decline and poverty of public trust in the regime has raised the alarm more than economic poverty,\u201d Arman daily wrote on Wednesday.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
