Each faction is fighting for more power and share in plundering the country\u2019s national wealth.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">While the regime&#8217;s Guardian Council set some new criteria for the candidates, the regime&#8217;s internal crisis was intensified and reached a new level in recent days.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">The regime\u2019s President <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/english.mojahedin.org\/i\/who-is-hassan-rouhani\" rel=\"noopener\">Hassan Rouhani<\/a> has rejected these criteria. On Thursday,\u00a0Abodolreza\u00a0Rahmani Fazli, the regime\u2019s Interior Ministry, said: \u201cthe elections rule has neither been canceled nor modified.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">This is while the Guardian Council had announced its new resolution to the Interior Ministry. However, by Rouhani\u2019s order, the Interior Ministry ignored the Guardian Council and registered the candidates under previous laws.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/stats.sender.net\/forms\/dGYVLa\/view\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Weekly-Signe-up-logo-1\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-219239\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Weekly-Signe-up-logo-1.png\" alt=\"Weekly-Signe-up-logo-1\" width=\"250\" height=\"83\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u201cObservations of a Fars reporter based at the election headquarters show that registration is done according to the previous rules, regardless of the instructions of the Guardian Council,\u201d wrote the state-run Fars news agency on Monday<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Subsequently, on May 11, Abbasali Kadkhodaie, the Guardian Council\u2019s spokesperson, once again, underlined that the \u201cRegistrations without the necessary documents and criteria are not valid and will not be reviewed.\u201d<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">With the factional feuding rising, Rouhani pleaded with the rival faction on Thursday to allow members of his ilk to take part in this farce election. \u201cThe government deeply believes that unity is defined by participation, not elimination.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Khamenei has leaped to eliminate the rival faction and unipolar his regime as a part of his contraction policy due to his regime\u2019s domestic and international crises. Following the major uprising in Iran in starting 2017, and due to the society\u2019s restiveness, Khamenei cannot even accept those from the rival faction who have been actively engaged in terrorism and oppression.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Yet, as the regime\u2019s infighting increases, Khamenei\u2019s position in the regime becomes insecure. Khamenei intends to select Ebrahim Raisi, the current Judiciary Chief and one of the main perpetrators of the 1988 massacre, so he could prevent his regime from collapsing.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Meanwhile, he knows that amid growing nationwide calls for boycotting the regime\u2019s elections, eliminating the rival faction\u2019s candidates will damage the low number of participants of the regime\u2019s affiliates. This is while Khamenei needs to legitimize his regime by having a large voter turnout. \u201cHigher turnout is paramount and results in security,\u201d Khamenei underlined on Monday.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">But as the state-run\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/iran-election\/state-run-media-admit-to-irans-elections-2021-low-turnout\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Hamdeli\u00a0daily<\/a> acknowledged on Wednesday, \u201cEvidence shows that A cold atmosphere dominates the presidential election. It is safe to say that the same [nationwide boycott] of the\u00a0<\/span><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/iran-election\/increased-support-for-electoral-boycott-could-set-stage-for-new-iranian-uprising\/\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">eleventh parliamentary<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0elections will repeat.\u201d<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">The regime\u2019s unprecedented infightings ahead of an election that Khamenei on May 2 called \u201cthe most sensitive election\u201d of the regime\u2019s history show the depth of the regime\u2019s crisis. This is the same crisis that Khamenei warned about on\u00a0December 16, 2020, and\u00a0said. \u201cOfficials shouldn\u2019t lose unity, [because it will result] in fragmentation [of the regime],\u201d\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">The main concern for both factions is the restiveness of the society and another popular uprising.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u201cDo they know that their action creates wide rifts in the system that the enemy will use? Didn\u2019t [Khamenei] remind 2009 [uprising] that was the result of creating a rift in the body of the system during the elections?\u201d the state-run\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/iran-election\/state-run-media-admit-to-irans-elections-2021-low-turnout\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Mostaghel\u00a0daily<\/a> wrote on Monday, adding, \u201cHave we not witnessed a chain of social protests in the country during the last four months, accompanied by sharp political slogans?
